I think CmdrTaco's wifes website got slashdotted. Or at least I'm not getting to it.
On another note, when will slashdot every get lampooned? I wonder, if we trash talked Parker and Stone enough if they'd make fun of us one day...
Well not to mention the temperatures and pressures at those depths are impossible to allow us measure anything (with current technology).
I must say it's amazing that with the technology that we have today our ability to understand the natural world is still made difficult by the raw power and seeming chaos that nature produces. It's good to keep geeks busy with stuff like that!:)
Hmm, I can just really fanatically disturbed people trying to make Sims of the Bay Area in SimCity and then running Quake simulations to see if they can compare with the results from NASA...
*shudder* That thought was strangely appealling to me actually.
Seriously though, I all this prediction technology that exists and yet we still have no idea when Mt. Saint Helens will erupt again and to what extent. I wonder if we have "lava butterfles" that disturb prediction algorithms for earthquakes and volcano's? Or some equivalent therein.
Amen to that!
And you have to love when you have a client that will push dates up on you but when they go to acceptance testing they push them back because "we're too busy". ARGH!
I deal with alot of programmers (I do configuration management - don't shoot me either) and I don't blame them when they write bad code. I know most times when they write bad code they had bad requirements to start!
Hey let's shoot the client!... I am kidding of course.
The post no one will ever get to or see.

Let's just say that I may or may not work in a retail IT shop as well. I'll tell you why they don't want to outsource as it will be the same reality in every IT production shop where the business is very competitive and dollars are super important.
Most businesses like retail don't want to wait for work to get done. Fuck (first time I ever swore on a bulletin board, forgive me) delivering effective solutions, deliver efficeincy. Ok, let's think about this. You have an efficient process that is not effective... you just have crappy system no one trusts. The next thing you know your clients want report after report so they can manually pour through and determine if the IT process is correct. Oh and of course in the end, strategic or operational decision making will be based on someone's uneducated gut instinct. Which makes you wonder why you built the stupid system in the first place. This is reality. It happens where I work, it happens all over it really is bullshit. In the end everyone wants a piece of the good old capital budget so they can capitalize on some operational costs so the books look good.
I don't know how many of you stay read about Sarbanes Oxley and the whole compliancy thing but things may finally change in IT. Ever since the stupide.com bust the IT industry has shrank and technical decisions in IT have been left to people who only know how to cut costs without maintaining integrity of work. If compliancy works and we finally might find people accountible for decisions like "Well can you change these dollar figures for a couple of days to make our sales look better?" You all know the kinds of requests I'm talking about. Someone wants to bypass every concivable business rule just once because it's a special situation. It's brutal. Oh and always there's a manager who will think that client is right. Too.
Ok, enough ranting for a post that won't get read.
Ok, keep in mind I'm a jaded, paranoid conspiracy nut... and a Canadian to make it worst. But the reality of the war was to gain resources in particular oil.
Iraq was no threat to theat the US, what could they do? Honestly, maybe Saddam could have said a few nasty words about George W's daddy (but then again who hasn't).
Honestly isn't it a conflict of interest when your leaders are making more money from corporate interests than by their own job?
I suggest to anyone to really look at some of the news out there that is being suppressed and question now whether good people who are willing to defend their country are now being used as corporate bodyguards while Iraq's oil is being plundered.
Not to say Canada is so great we have similar problems but not on the same scale of course.
That would be on Space Ship One! Wheeeeee!!!
If I owned a park I'd have that as a ride. *sarcasm alert* There's only minor logistical issues involved in that, honest. *sarcasm alert*
Is a good shot of the re-entry. I want so bad to see those wings actually fold up, that's too cool!
Anyone else out there who find it almost anime-esque?
Darn Rebels still get their version of history!
Long live the Empire!
Long live the Sith!
Darth Maul still lives!
There never where any Gungans, it's all lies!
Same thing for Ewoks!...
Angelina Jolie is hot!
Oh sorry folks, my ranting got out of control.
Hey, sometimes analyst is synonymous with "We don't want to pay you what you're worth".... Speaking as someone who has "analyst" as part of their job title...
Now analysts that give "official" opinions (Especially to the media!) are a complete waste. You know the media should report FACT not speculation... mutter mutter... grumble growl snarl...
So I checked this site out and I must say I have two major beefs about the site.
First off, you have to actually belong to a neighborhood to view any of the good stuff there. There's no browsing (or trolling depending on how you look at it) of neighboorhoods to see who lives there, calendar of events, etc.
Secondly, I think there should be a parent-child type relationship between neighborhoods. The reason being I have one other person in my nieghborhood. If there was a superset neighborhood called "Canada" I could see everyone in Canada, national polls, national events, etc. and that would be cool. Just my opinion really.
Wait for it...
A tie-in to Knight Rider! Yes those annoying yet lovable LED Eyes have an origin!
The Plot: Kit goes on a jealous murdering spree after catching Micheal and Bonnie "having relations". (You can decide for yourself who Kit was into:P) Deciding to just eliminate the human race (for own good) as all AI's do; he creates a servitor race in his own image.
That's right, the thirteenth colony were folks leaving earth! That's why they never go back to it.

But what if they end up being depressed suicidal robots like Marvin the robot?

Defect? I call that a feature! Whee!
Next thing you know your On Star will start talking to you at times you least expect it.
To quickly flip back to serious though. Probably more will emerge from this. I imagine cars are held to engineering standards correct?

If you want to know what this war really is about look at who profits http://www.halliburton.com/index.jsp and then start looking at the connections between those who profit and those who make the decisions.http://www.commondreams.org/views03/033
