    I subscribe to the top level support package - and I have to say it's the best tech support I've ever experienced bar none. You get direct phone/email access to the guys who develop it with 30mins response! They are not monkeys!

    well - interesting news. i have an existing support contract and they answered my support request today. having said that, i've never had a support issue with (the excellent) mysql support guys that was at all related to the OS.

    fyi: if you run anything like a large site (we sustain 4000qps most of the day), i would highly recommend a support contract with them. it's very cheap for 24/7/365 access to the devs.

    Well, the coal fired power station down the road from me (Fiddlers Ferry, Widnes, UK) has 4x units which produce 500MW each.

    That said, it's not very sunny over here.

    However the National Program for IT or NPfIT covers 5 local service providers (NW, E, NE, S and London, and a central spine). These regions are only in England, not the whole UK.

    Well if you retreive the password hash from an NT box, you can lookup the password with this database. However there are ways of securing this now.

    The team at Manchester have also developed an Async bus to link Synchronous IP blocks with different timing constraints together on a single chip more easily. If you want to know more about this you can attend CS3212 Asynchronous System Design at Manchester University. I did last year, and it was pretty hard :)

    I suppose the thing about CAT scans is you do one, look at it straight away, and if you see a massive tumour, you know there's something wrong. If it gets lost at some time in the future, well, it wasn't current data anyway, they'd probably be much better taking another one to see how you are progressing...?

    From their product info pages:
    "Equivalent to 17-inch SVGA display at arm's length Nomad provides the same full-screen resolution as an SVGA desktop monitor. Most handheld devices display only quarterscreen resolution. Scrolling is virtually unnecessary."
    So presumably around 1024x768 pixels...

    And the colour depth:

    "Monochrome red display Nomad's bright-red display provides high contrast between the display information and virtually any background view. 32 grey levels Nomad can display text, graphics, halftones or video in any combination with excellent readability."

    The thing the surprised me was the price, only $3995, which seems pretty cheap, to be turned into a terminator....

    I'm reminded of the bit where Arnie scans the dresscode in the bar, and the HUD flashes up 'Inappropriate' at one point...

    Well he said it was an Intel onboard one - ie. not actually a card itself ;) I presume if it's recent it'll be the i810_audio driver then. Probably didn't add himself to the audio group or something - but we'll never know since over three pages he doesn't manage to describe the problem in any detail or provide much of a hint as to the exact chipset we're working with...

    This SQL wouldn't work, cause you need to specify what you're selecting, unlike with a DELETE clause. SELECT * FROM .... etc. Maybe he does have a sense of humour?

    Well, consider the fact that they carried on running the plant for about 10 more years after the explosion since Ukraine didn't have enough generating capacity to shut it down!

    PHP outputs whatever you tell it to. Not webpages. Unless you, er, tell it to. I use it to send SMS messages from the cli in a cron job. Easy to write, and a lot of decent libraries.

    I have to agree and say that latest debian-installer had some cryptic questions about my (shock horror) Microsoft USB Intellimouse. Required me to load the usb module manually etc as I recall. I didn't find the partitioning any harder than any other distro unlike most people in this thread... but you do need some knowledge of the directory structure I suppose. My final gripe would be that although my Geforce Ti4200 autodetected ok, my housemate's RADEON 7800 didn't, and er, I still haven't got it to work by specifying the radeon driver manually. Debian rocks though, and is well worth installing. If you run sarge or sid, not everything is really old too!

    RAM apart from SONY Memory Stick PRO that is. I recently bought a 256Mb stick and was horrified to discover around 30Mb is used for 'management information' so I can only use ~220Mb !

    I think the linksys is more hackable because it runs linux, and the netgear which I have at least, doesn't.
