Linux is becoming an operating system that is all about the user. Coming to an end are the days where you need to know how to use shell to use linux. In this world, waiting months and months (and sometimes forver) to get your hardware working is not really acceptable. Linux can not compete with other OS's as long as it is a huge hassle to get your hardware working. Allow proprietary drivers, I want my broadcom wireless mini PCI card working...
The offense is on the person who uploaded a copyrighted work, not a person who downloaded it. I've never heard of the RIAA actually going after someone for downloading (even thats what all the aritcles say) - it is distribution of copyrighted materials that pisses them off.
This is possibly the dumbest thing I've ever heard. Coming from a supposed intellectual it's downright insulting. It's like the story of the patent official who resigned in the late 1800's because he said everything had been invented already.
The definition of an invention is something new. Obviously to make something new, you have to be creative. To say there will be no more "next big things" simply means you lack creativity.
I can think of a lot of next big thing - Personal Area Networks, Augmented Reality, Holographic displays, new forms of energy, just to name a few. These things are GOING to happen, it's just a matter of time.
We have more "next big things" than any other time in history.
Farming is a necessary evil? Since when was farming evil? Farming has been the base of nearly every economy since the beginning of time. It has certainly been vital to the human race since it's existence began. Farming is not a necessary evil, farming is necessary, period.
So this is a great idea, but how on earth to they keep the cellphones charged? IS there some kind of bird docking station? Perhaps induction could be used from powerlines that the birds will inevitably be perched on...
This already happened in Spider Man, and it didn't end well. The octopus guy had to kill himself to destroy his man made sun. Do the chinee have an octopus guy?
I worked for a large computer company where there were countless promotions for the employees to get extra rewards. I never participated in them. They made me feel cheap. Every time there was a promotion everyone would run around like chickens trying to get their $25 gift cards, ipod nanos, or gift certificates.
My advice to you is to quit whining and do they job you agreed to do when you were hired for the amount of money you were promised.
This is what you're saying: "I'm paid a salary for my job, but really the salary is just to get me to come in every day and browse the net. If they want me to actually work, they're going to have to sweeten the deal." Blah on that.
The eruption of Mt. St. Helens released more greenhouse gases into the atmosphere than humans have since the beginning of the industrial revolution. I think the best thing to do for our earth is to cool down it's core so it stops producing lava and 'sploding mountains.

No, the healthy and young were effected more in 1918 because their immune systems over-reacted and flooded their lungs with defensive white blood cells. RTFA.
It's too bad they won't tell us how they work. I just can't figure out how they get lasers shot into someone's eyes to actually temporarily blind them...
I purhased a one month subscription to mobitv for my treo 650 and watched it once, just to see if it worked. I had no desire to continue watching after that.
Oct. 2005-Discovered a cure and developed a syrum for malaria.
Jan. 2006-Announced delay in release of said syrum, while the latest features and security enhancements are added. Announced a release date of Q4 2006.
Q4 2006-Malaria, Longhorn Addition(tm) delayed again while bugs are worked out of all the "features" they added. Expected release Q4 2007
Q4 2007-Malaria syrum further delayed, MS announces that they are dropping the capability to cure malaria, but are releasing it with a sweet new UI (User Injection interface). Expected release: Q4 2008
Q4 2008-Syrum still not released, pirated beta versions of the vaccine flood bit torrent, but look just like all the same old medicines.
I think some "R&D" dollars would be really beneficial as malaria is a pretty crappy disease. I hope that we can use the research and development money to develop a new, more powerful version of malaria.

Someone should sue M$ over their major supply chain problem.

You don't say...
Let's be honest, did you even look at it before making that comment?

Too bad using this to block cell signals would be against the law. FCC mandates say that you can't purposefully interfere with those signals.

...laser pointers and airplanes have turned people into superman - giving the ability to fly and have laser vision.
No, no, no. Having a device that does something does not make you superhuman - having a brain that does something DOES make you superhuman.
"A killer does not become better in any way by saving equal amounts of lives as he has killed."
But what if the people being saved are American and the people being killed are from some other country?

Since when to computer novices have 4 computers?

Who invented this? Don't they just cancel eachother out? It's like the simpsons where homer takes sleeping pills and energy pills.

the chatrooms at sexoffender.com and iswearimnotapedophile.com are still open to everybody.
But where will they find ROUS'S? (Rodent of unusual sizes)
If nobody "invented" the internet, than whose Al Gore?
