  1. How these guys are really really making their NRG on Irish Company Claims Free Energy · · Score: 1
Okay, people, this is how it is really working. It's so obvious when you look at it.

    1. Release a press release saying you have done the impossible. Use phrases like "we didn't believe it ourselves at first!" because they make the thing sound true.

No thanks, I'll just keep breaking CSS and burning DRM-free movies. It's well within my rights (at least what they should be), and anyone who says differently will be mocked in the future.

  6. Macbook was not the first? on Knock Some Commands Into Your Laptop · · Score: 1
For the first time ever, Slashdot is able to be accessed via "data" lines which connect computers together. "These 'data lines,' as we're calling them, are able to connect many computers together in a mesh topography - like a 'net' or a 'web,'" said a spokesperson

Many people are unhappy with this advance as this is the first technology to ever run any type of wire into people's homes.

  7. Rodney King on NH Man Arrested for Videotaping Police · · Score: 1
I hereby call for the immediate arrest of the guy who video taped the Rodney King beating. Seriously, he caused those nice officers a bunch of trouble and it turns out it was all done illegally. I guess we can overthrow the case now.

Okay, if anyone should have less rights when it comes to being video taped, it's cops. It's called checks and balances. It's the only way to make sure cops aren't abusing their rights. I make a recording every time a cop pulls me over and will continue to do so. Take me to jail, G-men!

  8. Punished for cancellations? on AOL Tries New Tactic to Keep Customers · · Score: 1

If the CS reps are punished for cancellations and rewarded for retentions, let's skew the system and do our poor CSR's a favor (many of us have been there and it aint easy)! Everyone call to cancel an AOL account today (if you don't have one use a friend's). At the first hint of retention say "MAN! I guess you're right - I SHOULD keep my account after all!" Your new friend will get promoted and you'll have a warm fuzzy feeling inside.

Honestly. Things become stronger by opposition. Duh.

Have you ever heard of a non sequitur? It means the logic doesn't follow. It's like saying cars drive on roads and roads are made of cement, therefore cars leave cement everywhere they go.

I don't recall these things happening during Clinton either, I also don't recall people using video iPods - Bush must have invented those things.

  13. Re:Oy, the usual hydrogen myths on Hydrogen Fuel Balls from a Gas Pump? · · Score: 1

I'm a bit surprised that you recognize the dangers of gas vs. hydrogen, yet you over-estimate the dangers of using nuclear energy to create the hydrogen. The byproducts are toxic, yes, but less toxic than our current smokestacks and easier to keep tabs on. It's efficient, safe, and creates tons of energy for very little. Anyone who says otherwise either doesn't know what they're talking about or is lying. A nuclear energy plant creating hydrogen for fuel is a damn good idea.

  14. Bush or who? on Wired Releases Full Text of AT&T NSA Document · · Score: 1

Everyone keeps talking about how that all these problems are the Bush administrations fault. Yet I see mentions only of the administration in people conclusions, instead of the story itself. There's a lot more people involved here than Bush's administration. It's really a cheap shot to spin everything on them. But as goes the trend, if the administration had acted sooner this comment wouldn't have been modded down.

  15. In the good 'ol days... on Parasitic Infection Flummoxes Victims and Doctors · · Score: 1
Whatever is going on it is clear doctors are saying "I don't know" rather then "let's figure this out." Back in the day doctors used to make more money off of ordering more tests. Medical treatment was better because it was in a doctors financial interest to pay attention to you. Nowadays, the way things are set up, it is in a doctors best interest to see as many people as possible.

This leads to doctors misdiagnosing things all the time - and why not? They also have no vested interest in being correct because malpractice insurance will clean up the mess when they're not. It's very easy for doctors to say it's horses when they hear hoofbeats, but every once in a while it's Zebras.

I think it's insulting to say that google should bare any responsibility for carrying malware links in their paid advertising. It is the end user's responsibility to make sure they're not downloading crap. It would be incredibly unrealistic for any search engine to try to block this stuff from their advertising systems, besides it's not in their best interest to. Add that to the fact that judging what is malware and what is not is often subjective, this article is meaningless.
