If you wait 55 years (10,000/15)/12 then you will have spend $10,000 on your monthly subscription, and you still won't get to keep the songs.

What if you download a bunch of songs from napster and than just never hook it back up to the service again? Will it expire? And if so, what if your computer breaks, how can you keep your songs updated?

Microsoft stopped verifying copies of windows for major security reasons. They said the health of the internet was more important than blocking illegal copies. The logic is sound. Let everyone get the updates so you don't ruin the internet for the people who actually paid for their copy of window.

I work in tech support. A lady called in yesterday with a problem and I told her to install SP2. She claimed that HP told her never to install SP2, and that if she did, they would have her uninstall it. She said they told her it causes too many problems. This is why there are zombie computers still.

  11. ya right.... on Flat-Screen Makers Face Patent Lawsuits in U.S. · · Score: 1
I love how everyone waits until their supposed patent is huge before making a legal move. Like, they obviously weren't doing anything with the technology, so it's good that someone else picked it up and made it useful to consumers.

The other problem I see with this is that there are TWO companies making a fuss about it - so which one owns the LCD patent for real?

I just have a hard time feeling sorry for a company who comes out saying "Oh - we have a patent on the wheel - we just forgot to do anything about it before! Now that it's worth a heap of money let's sue everyone in sight!

The solution is this. If someone hasn't done anything with their patent within say...3 years, then it's fair game. This will help things from becoming stagnant. And someone will check up on you - like they do when you're collecting unemployment - to make sure you're actually trying to do something with your patent.

The other solution (more realistic) is to not allow lawsuits so late in the game. Like, if you wait until someone else has made billions of dollars on your patent, then you should be out of luck. There should be like a 3 year time limit on suing people who are using your idea. That's reasonable, right?

Either it's just coincidence, or they have agreed not to do so--a completely illegal practice."

uhh..actually the government divided up the country to the different companies because back in the old days all the companies would have to have been using different sets of lines. It was absurd to allow every company that comes along to rewire the city, so they just divided it up - every place had one company - one set of lines.
