I don't understand how this is a good decision for Microsoft. Sure WinFS would be a nice feature on XP - but why would they backport the only thing that makes Longhorn worthwhile to XP? Don't they want Longhorn to stand out?
The thumb scroll on any inovative mouse should be up and down, not forward and back. Up and down is a natural and easy movement for the thumb to make. It's also less stress on the joint of the thumb. I'm suprised they didn't implement it like that.
Wells Fargo is moving to windows so they can run video on the ATM screens. They want to run traileras and MSNBC tickers. OS/2 doesn't have that capability.
It's good too, because I needed a place to see MSNBC tickers and movie trailers and also get money at the same time.
Now that this has rolled out on all Wells Fargo ATM's, they will allow you to watch full movies on them and will be opening concession stands. If you pull up to an ATM, and the car in front of you has the windows all fogged up... it might be a while.
Man did you guys watch that video? I mean, it was pretty crazy how long island just detached and flew down to antarctica! And this is going to happen when?!
LJSM is a great command line tool (I know you love the command line!) that will backup your livejournal and even make a nice html index for all your posts. I wiould suggest using it now, because WHO KNOWS what could happen.
p.s. Im not affiliated with LJSM, but it is great software.
It's a pretty funny post, but there ARE companies that work like that..ahem..Microsoft...ahem. "Let's put our Longhorn team on the SP2 project", and who knows whose doing most of their programming, because it sure aint programmers!
Since they have hacked Lycos's server, they are just as much, if not MORE in the wrong then people who are fighting back against them. As far as I understand, LEGALLY their records can still be used as evidence, since it was not a police agency who obtained the data illegaly
The screensaver put my processor usage up to 100% though, so I stopped using it after one day.
So camera phones can be used as barcode scanners, eh? I wonder how long until we see this in a wider usage. I mean, why buy an expensive laser reader when any cheap camera will do?
I would personally like to see the ability to scan a barcode and see results on your phone for what the product is going for on different online retailers (think froogle).
Also, does anyone remember those scannerz games where you would go around scanning barcodes to create monsters to fight with? That would make a killer cell phone game!

Too bad mothers of the world don't read slashdot and find helpful tips like this...

...Bios updates are free from HP's site. You don't need to have a service contract to get them. Go to support.hp.com and type in your model number.
The "waiting time" was almost always acceptable, it is the cooler capabilities that people care about.

I use them in the studio to block out noise from the drums and get a clean mix into my ear. They work wonders.
The best way to fight spam is to go home and turn off your mom's zombie computer...
I think perhaps we should wait a little longer until we start deciding if this will be an issue or not. I mean, we do have a few years after all...
by 2029, it might not be the worst disaster in history anymore...
If you put a million monkeys with slashdot mod privledges in front of a million computers....
skin support, but no skins?
Diebold didn't make them, did they?!
...and buy 250 gig hard drives for $150. Six of these would be close to the same size and still leave you under $1000.

All they need is to ask to see the person's teeth to tell whether or not they are british...
why don't we just link to spam servers in a /. story?
