Yes tablets have been around, but never one that had an operating system designed for it. Think about it - the reason tablets have not been all that special is because using a keyboard and mouse oriented operating system on a touch screen was just not compelling. Apple has figured out how to make such a device actually pretty awesome.
Hey I want to play that game. Just last night I was searching for a space based build/conquer/explore type game for my Android phone. I found Space STG which seems pretty cool. I'd like to hear more about your game though.
So DHS is going to make us get national driver's licenses. Congress is going to make us get national ID cards. Next FDA is going to make us all have some card in order to eat and every government agency from coast to coast is going to require some new card.
So let's see who can be first to market with a portable ID-card-dex. "Let's see here's my FDA approval card that says I can eat... wait it's expired! Ahhh!"
Well duh. I don't know why our culture is so obsessed with doing everything so early in the morning. Well, actually I do, it's because everyone else woke up to late to vote on it.
Let's not say that modern operating systems need to be reworked when the only one that needs to be reworked is Windows. Don't act like everyone else has the same problem. I'm not trying to be a fanboy here, but see this page - specifically the section marked "grand central dispatch" : http://www.apple.com/macosx/technology/
Here's an idea: let's create a game that trains legions of nothing-to-lose nerds how to proficiently use an arsenal of modern weaponry. Then let's do stuff to really piss them off.
While I agree this is an annoyance for developers, Android is pretty good at only offering you apps you can install in the market. This is how pretty much every Windows Mobile or other smartphone (Palm OS, etc.) has worked since they came out. They came with the operating system they came with and, for the most part, that was it.
The fact that Android is open source, and Google has promised to make the source for new versions available is the only reason people feel they should get an upgrade when, in reality, the phone was designed for whatever operating system it came with. The fact that all the manufacturers work on new roms for old phones is actually a really nice bonus. I know my hero will get an official 2.1 upgrade within the coming months (it only came out in October). However my Windows Mobile phone is still running the same OS it came with 3 years ago.
Sure, this has its limitations. We're not going to be conducting diplomacy with aliens on the deck of the starship enterprise using cell phone machine translation. But for simple and easy to understand things like "Where is the bathroom?" or "The cheese is old and moldy" this thing will be sufficient, I'm sure.
There is also an art to using machine translation. I don't know how to describe it, but if you input things like you'd imagine a foreigner saying them, the translation will be much better. Your input can't be the way you actually talk, it has to be more like the statements you would find in a children's book - and each thought should be contained in its own sentence.
So you get $2500 for the month and then $7500 if you complete it without being found. You're not making much more than if you just went to work for those 30 days. The risk vs. reward ratio just isn't there.
Shouldn't treaties be made by people who are responsible to an electorate? Isn't that the point of our entire system of government? This seems really shady to me.
Maybe they'll surprise us and do something awesome like content streaming over PSN. So you pay your monthly fee but you get streaming content like netflix has.

Posted from my iPad ;)
Holy crap there's a facebook purity greasemonkey script? Thanks for letting me know about it, Facebook. I'm off to install it now!

From their twitter feed:
"Finally cracked the encryption to US military video in which journalists, among others, are shot. Thanks to all who donated $/CPUs."
Looks like there's more to the story than you've assumed.
That's what they usually do and nobody cares. I think they're experimenting with different release methods to try to get maximum impact.
I can't wait until a crime show gets ahold of this.
"Delete that wall and see what is behind it. Enhance. Enhance. Enhance."

and the surgery to implant it into the base of your skull is so painless it's no wonder I'm number 1!

I didn't say it was new. In fact, I said it was old.
What is an internet key? I don't need keys to access the internet...

And Android phones.
Also available for Android. USAA FTW!
Oh great ... now I'm only going to have crappy 2-3 day battery life like every other multi-tasking phone I've ever owned.

I can't wait for Call Of Duty Metallica Edition World Tour.

So will robots be able to complete Duke Nukem Forever, or will we have to wait until the AI makes new, smarter AI?

Exactly. Not to mention the fact that you might only end up with $2500 - all of which you probably spent over the course of the month.

The drivers for your device should be on your device when you get it. You can extract them and use them on your own custom rom if you want.

But probably not.
