  1. But the questions remains... on 18-Foot Multitouch Wall and New Multitouch Tech Hit the Streets · · Score: 1

How does it look with your favorite gaming system (insert PS3, XB360, Wii, PC) hooked up? Otherwise, whats the point.

  2. Well, on Murdoch Says, "We'll Charge For All Our Sites" · · Score: 5, Funny

Then instead of people not reading their print editions, then they will ignore the web edition as well. Sounds like a solid business plan to me.

  3. As a Geek married to a Geek... on Navigating a Geek Marriage? · · Score: 1

Rules that that work for us... 1. My wife always gets the new computer -- one every year to year and a half -- so buy based on what you want on your desk in that time frame. 2. My wife always gets the new iPod -- same rules as above, except I buy new headphones when I inherit her old one. 3. Any new toy I get, she gets something, when we went to a high def TV, I just factored in the cost of the PS3 (my wife is a system gamer, I game on PC's). 4. We always have at least a couple no tech nights a week -- use your imagination. 5. When in doubt, realize that it is far easier to justify a new toy for her rather than for yourself, then you replace them more often. Overall mantra - would you rather be happy with the hand me down toy or sleeping on the couch?

  4. Re:$1.5 million? on RIAA Wants $1.5 Million Per CD Copied · · Score: 5, Insightful

I think we should let them, only with the stipulation of a $1.5 Billion penalty when they file a lawsuit against the wrong person. Of course, this would be payable in cash to the person they sue. I would think that this would be an equally justifiable fine and would encourage some top tier lawyers to defend the public for a marginal percentage.

  5. Blue Ribbons... on Pay-per-email and the "Market Myth" · · Score: 1

To show the spammer really does want your business. Really though, will those that use AOL really know what the blue ribbin stands for. My relatives that use AOL are usually lucky if they can figure out how to get thier e-mail and/or open atttchments and the like. If AOL does this, I will just make it a point to move as many of them, and anyone else I know, to an ISP who doesn't charge or block e-mail.

  6. Heavenly Delight on Microsoft to Buy Stake in AOL · · Score: 2, Insightful

AOL's lousy service plus M$'s lousy software, all forced upon corporations = $$$ for the consultants who will have the misfortune of making it (at least attempting to)work.

  7. Re:One difference... on Rebuilding New Orleans With Science · · Score: 1

Hollands muck is primarily silts, clays, and sands where as New Orleans muck is primarily organics (peat and compressed wetlands aka future coal and oil). Geomorphologically these are vastly different with Holland having a much better base.

  8. One difference... on Rebuilding New Orleans With Science · · Score: 5, Insightful

New Orleans sits on hundreds of feet of muck (about 600 ft) and lacks access to the bedrock. Combined this with the channelization of the Mississippi and the levees, the city will sink if water is continuously pumped out. Ultimately, if we do not address the issue that the above have caused the wetlands to decrease, New Orleans will be a coastal city that sits below sea level in 2040. Best solution: rebuild on higher groud. Moral of the story: man can attempt to thwart mother nature, but like all parents, punishment may be severe.
