  1. We need a standard on Verisign Buyout of Thawte Consulting Challenged · · Score: 1

One of the major problems is that these dig signatures and encryptions are not standard. one email client may support one while another doesn't.
I've had to switch email clients many times, that gets kinda of frustrating. We need one encryption method that all clients support, for free. I do like the way Thawte has the "free" digital sig, and you can add your actual name to it with a little bit of verification. People will never use this stuff consistently unless it becomes a standard.

Does the government have the right to stomp on the citizens?

If they want to limit "dangerous" technology, we will soon be living back in the stone age. Guns are bad, lets remove them. Well I can still kill with a knife.. so we better take away the knives, then all the metal and hard plastic and hard wood, cuz I can make weapons with those materials as well. someone *MIGHT* use an FM transmitter to listen to a private conversation. So we better outlaw FM transmitters altogether, because I can modify even the most worthless one to do that job.
Computers can design bombs, can design weapons, can attack and steal private information. So we should outlaw computers as well.

A suspicious business should be quietly and legally entered, information requested, if the business is innocent they will most likely freely give any amount of information, if they don't, then thats what the search warrant is for.

Our government does have to be assholes in their jobs, they can do their jobs right without being jerks.

The day that the people can be stopped and questioned for simply deviating from our ruts in life is the day we have no more freedom. To me it looks like we've gone to "GUILTY until proven innocent". I want to be left alone until I do something wrong, not watched just in case I do. we are not babies. With this system, I'm sure those prying eyes would raise an eyebrow or at least and bump up surveilance if someone made a "legal", yet unannounced trip out of the country. It's amazing how every freedom we have is slow stripped away under the pretense that somehow it's all in stopping crime.

The government takes our money and wastes it, uses it to make us a laughing stock. gives it to foreign countries by the billions of dollars. all this stuff is a load of crap. If the government were run like my bank account we'd be in MUCH better shape. My bank account gets a boost every 2 weeks, I pay my bills first, then I withdraw some for the average bottle of gin or gas or a night in a restaurant. I don't give it away to anyone but the closest friends, and that very rarely, simply because I EXPECT my close friends to be able to manage their own paychecks. If my account happens to become short of money or close to short of money. what do I do. I stop spending. I stop giving. Our government continues spending. Continues giving billions to other countries who cannot seem to manage their pocketbook.
