You'll get all your upgrades anyway.

Many of the components in longhorn will be rolled out as individual services prior to the official release.

(Of course, Microsoft will package the official longhorn release with a few bells and whisltes to grab consumer interests.)

SP2 is a great example of this. The pop-up blocker and buffer overrun protection were all original longhorn ideas.

Likely each component will be rolled out seperately... and then it'll all be bundled (without the new file system) for the official longhorn release.

Of course, they will package the new release with new bells and whistles to give people a reason to upgrade... but most function will be able to be obtained before the official "longhorn" release.

SP2, for example, contains several aspects of longhorn that were forced to the users sooner. Examples are the pop-up blocker and the protected memory to prevent buffer overruns.

We've had no problems with service until the last week. The cable/VoIP modem start cycling and trying to readjust over and over.

The guy came out and changed the modems. He said that it is very, very common.

So if you start losing VoIP service and your modem starts cycling... be quick to report it so they can change out your device.

I can blast huge torrents over suprnova and talk on the phone at the same time without any problems. I've been very impressed with the bandwidth... In fact, my impression is that my bandwidth greatly improved when they switched me over to VoIP. I imagine they uncap the bandwidth when you get digital phone service so insure both services work well together.

That was around 10 years ago when HP, Packard Bell, iomega, and several other companies were learning that they could release cheap, buggy hardware and make an assload of money.

I got tons of traffic and was in several "best of" lists over the next couple of years. Several companies were trying to sue me but luckily several of my faithful users were lawyers and helped me through it.

Uptime was a problem because we had no way at that time of making money on the project. We bounced from server to server trying to keep up with traffic. I understand how these guys feel.

After a couple of years, I went to med school and didn't have time to keep it up. I'm such a shmuck... If I would have focused on that page instead of my medical career, I could have made millions, gone bankrupt, and then made money again!

I'm not quite sure how this is all that new. Many, many console games have ads throughout the game. I was playing Madden 2005 just a few minutes ago... and the billboards in the stadiums are pushing all sorts of EA-related stuff.

What has shocked me is the failure of freeware with embedded ads. For a while it seemed many freeware authors were trying to make money with this concept.

As a freeware author myself, it didn't work well for my product. People preferred the old, buggy ad-free version to the final version with small, tasteful ads. I ended up making more money off the google ads on the download page than I did from the product.

I finally killed the ads and the number of people using the program hit the roof.

Grab a bucketful of fried chicken and take it to your next doctor's appointment. Let him hook you up to the EKG machine and then eat away.

I often ask patients to bring in things that they believe they are allergic to.

If you go from normal sinus to having a ton of PVCs while eating chicken, your doctor would have a very interesting case to publish! Plus, if you bring your doc a bucket of chicken, he is certain to sit down and chat a spell. :)

As an allergy doc, let me suggest something before you kill yourself with this stuff. Just go see an allergic specialist in your area. We can skin test for almost every known allergic substance to man. Plus, as the medline article that you referenced (which says nothing about computer/electronic smells) suggests, you may have asthma if these smells are making your feel poorly.
