    You don't need to root the phone to enable free tethering on Android 2.1. Of course, that's just tethering via Bluetooth or USB and not WIFI, but I wouldn't be too surprised if 2.2 is at least as friendly.

    Sure they're firm... right when you plug them in. I'm sure the two or three or even four HDMI devices you own are still fine. But when you've installed hundreds of HDMI devices and distribution networks in a variety of homes and other locations and had to fix the problems caused by them slipping out or not maintaining a good connection over time, you'll start to see the trends yourself. HDMI connectors are garbage.

    I don't know what kind of "unlimited data plan" Verizon Wireless is talking about. They do not currently have and, as far as I know, never have had an unlimited data plan for "air cards" (USB dongles).

    Verizon's unlimited data plan is for smartphones. That's why the article was talking about data plans for smartphones. They were not talking about USB dongles for your computer.

    If you want an unlimited data plan for your computer, get a smartphone and tether with one of the 3rd-party proxy clients. If you tether through Verizon's service, you'll still be limited to the same limits you have now while tethering.

    Your netbook doesn't run Windows 7 "slow as sh*t" because it's only got 2GB of RAM... It runs "slow as sh*t" because you're running it on an Atom processor.

    Windows 7 performs perfectly well on my 5 year old 2GB laptop with a Core Duo (yes, that's CD, not C2D!) processor.

    It would run "slow as sh*t" on a Snapdragon too, but that doesn't have anything to with your statement that you need 4GB of RAM to run Win7.

    I paint my super-bright LEDs with a Sharpie. Enough light still comes through that I can tell the things are on, but I can't read by them anymore.

    That's why no serious PC gamer seriously considers MW2 for purchase.

    The sky is not falling. The beauty of PCs is you don't need anyone's permission to do what you want with your hardware. Multiplayer gaming where the customers are in control is not going away.

    A breathable atmosphere that filters and scatters sunlight to a degree that makes it usable for agriculture is always useful.

    The disk material is (relative to a hard disk platter) still soft and pliable. Putting a floppy disk inside a rigid enclosure doesn't mean the disk itself isn't floppy anymore.

    It's only hot in July and August, normally. The rest of the year it's quite comfortable. 22C (like right now) feels about perfect to me. 12C is not warm... it's chilly. :)

    I guess one way to opt out would involve installing a couple of window A/C units for key rooms. They don't have to actually be in a window, or even visible. Some ducting and a remote control and you're set. If the power companies really want people to use relatively inefficient window units over more efficient central air systems, so be it.
