    But now to my point:

I don't understand, that major linux distribution builders don't care about this thing.

A Mandrake PVR edition could be wonderful. They could compile the kernel, the drivers, XFree, mythtv, etc., so that everything fits together and just works out of the box.

Or look at sth. like Norton Ghost. There's not that much magic behind this. Cloning partitions or disks. Or doing full backups or you hd. You can do nearly everything that Ghost does under Linux. Someone just has to put it together, build a GUI above it, and then sell it for 20$ less than ghost.

I guess, that there is a market for a lot of these special purpose linux distros.

A linux based PVR may be one of this, a linux based cd/dvd backup program, a linux based ghost clone, a linux based partition magic clone, etc.

We need someone to setup a banking account, where one can deposit money and say: If Mandrake succeeds, I'll buy a Mandrake club membership from this money or buy the box or buy some software from them or simply donate (which of course is stupid, because the club membership means that 100% of your money directly goes to the company you want to support).

Apple has kind of 5 % market share, other OSes sth. like 2 % (of course it's even lower ...).

So these 2% have to use a non-IE-browser, simply because that's not available.

And these 5% Apple users won't switch, as Safari is still beta and IE for the time being is better (KHTML still needs a lot of work to become a good as Gecko now is). So don't expect Safari to be the standard browser on OSX sooner than 9 to 12 months.

Netscape/Mozillas market share on Windows is below 10%. While I love Mozilla/Phoenix I don't think there will be too many people swhitching from IE because the reasons to switch aren't big enough. IE works on all of the pages OK. That's Good Enough (tm).

If we can get near 30% market share the big move has to be AOL switching to Gecko.

Most other browser will stay below 1% Market share. Don't get me wrong, but I think that Netscape 7.0 is installed on more computers than Mozilla. There's (of course) not a single (technical) reason for this, but, hey, what technical knowledge do you expect from a normal computer user?
