    Yes, it does. At least the way it has been set up. HFT lets some traders outbid others by submitting a whole series of offers and then canceling the one that won't make them any money. Its an abuse of a feature demanded by HF traders to unwind 'system errors' created by such rapid transactions. In reality, its like being able to put a bet down at a roulette table and then pick it back up quickly when you see where the ball lands.

    Its fraud and HF traders should be in prison. Except that the brokerages like the commission business.

    What about the associated connective tissue? Building big muscles fast is just a recipe for tearing ligaments. These take a lot longer to develop than muscle. As many steroid users demonstrate by bulking up fast and then tearing themselves up pushing too hard.

    Its a problem that most of industry has to deal with. And indications are that they haven't done a very good job of it.

    would it not be more straightforward to pipe it through whatever is happening with a chromebook or android device??

    I assume that the player (proprietary) takes some steps to check its environment and look for signs of output redirection, rooting, or other 'unapproved' modifications. This may include some key exchange and authentication with the hardware, including the display.

    If you could crack that and provide the player binary with a virtual Android environment, it might work.

    "Musk's" system will not be cheaper and it couldn't be profitable - let alone break even.

    Maybe, maybe not.

    But 'profitable' in this era of large transit systems isn't a goal. The system that gives politicians the greatest opportunity to play hide the tax revenue will be the one that succeeds. The politicos will see to that. You need to ask the question: Which system will provide the most opportunities to skim funds for projects ranging from save the gay whales to housing for hobos? That will be the winner. The technology doesn't matter.

    Which is how it should all be done. Relying on Google's honesty, or some Google employee who doesn't want his fingers broken one by one, is just false security.
