Drivers often compensate for blind spots by turning their heads to glance out the side window. But there is a drawback to doing this when changing lanes or merging into the flow of freeway traffic - the driver's eyes and attention are diverted from the road ahead. And older drivers may have difficulty twisting to catch that quick glimpse.
i agree with you, but nobody does it in this college town, they just come uver without looking. also, like the article points out, old people cant turn their necks. i submit that perhaps at this time in your life you shoud no longer be driving.
in a perfect world, people would just do like they were taught in drivers ed(yes, they would all take it) and wouldnt be so frikkin stupid. i think there is a definite use for this technology, tho im not sure people will accept it very well:
theres plenty of room before that car, whats you problem, radar???!!
this as they miss the other car's bumper by 6 inches
pardon the ignorance, but what are you running there? i see osx menus, icons, and their app bar, but kde windows(and kde icons in them). im just learning about darwin and the like and what youve got going there looks very appealing. thats on mac hardware, right?
hey, me too! comp sci and its about a 3.0 from oklahoma state. thats not as nice as purdue? oh. right... crap.
at any rate, im much happier in a garage wrenching on cars. i think im gonna just say "well, i got my degree, should have gotten an easier one" and follow my dreams of owning a hot rod shop. anybody have connections to somebody writing software to tune car ecu's? at least that would use my degree...
ah, brings me back to the days of "warning" wars on AIM, hehe. some friends and i got a female friend of ours blocked off AIM for quite a while by warning her repeatedly... good fun. it can at least make it a little easier to be angry at them.
agreed on the level of telephone versus IM. however, i think cell phones add a complication to the mix that makes analog lines look less appealing.
speaking of ease of communication, i know you were talking about analog land lines, but this is precisely the reason i dont understand text messaging on one's phone. the process of typing all those letters by hitting the 7 key eighty five times and the 3 key forty two times, etc, is beyond me. CALL them with that PHONE you are pounding away on. people try to say its so you can do it in meetings, class, etc... crap. hearing someone hitting those keys is annoying as hell in class and the vibrating on the desk is just as bad as ringing.
most definitely. that's me too. not only that, but since my wife has one too, i know she can call anytime she is broken down in the middle of nowhere on teh way out of this forsaken college town(ever been to stillwater?).
free long distance, no telemarketers(i got pissed at one guy for calling it, he was the only one since), and wherever i am, its a local call for my family(tho this took a great deal of convincing over a year or so for my mother). ive convinced the wife that i NEED cable access for my major (which is probably true), so no need for dialup. cable is actually cheaper than a land line + access.
i see little reason for anyone to own a real phone anymore, unless coverage sucks where you are. okay, there are probably reasons, but not for me. i save money and its more convenient.
i think maybe his point was that 1/5 is a significant portion of 1/3 of the whole. if we take up 1/5, that doesnt leave a lot of room for anybody else. i dunno, maybe he just got it backwards. not worht the effort i put into this post, probably.
hehe... its useful, however, for editing files over ssh. not enough UI? why, what ever do you mean? there is NO UI, hehe. its terminal looking because its freaking old as dirt. the thing about the commands is, tho, that once you get used to them, you can be much faster editing than with a mouse in notepad, IMO.
you know, with all the crap vi gets, i honestly dont think its that bad. id rather use it than notepad. okay, so id like to have a mouse in there, but it really has some handy commands. it takes a little getting used to, but not a lot, really. i was relatively used to it by the end of my first semester as a cs student, the first time i even saw unix. i was glad when i didnt have to use jkl, etc for arrow, however, hehe.
unless i misunderstood what you meant, im not sure what you said has to do with anything.
the guy i responded to said that port 80 was blocked so he couldnt run a webserver. all i said was to configure it to run on port 81. im in oklahoma and cox blocks 80 here so everybody i know just uses 81. your port 80 is not blocked so there is no reason to use 81.
oh, and if i did misunderstand you and you are running on port 81 even tho 80 isnt blocked, i would like to know how you got it to link without the:81 on the url
is it really possible to abuse a 56k connection? as i recall, it was barely possible to actually surf the web(yes, im spoiled by my cable at home and lan at work, rarely am i limited by my end), let alone download massive amounts of software, etc.
is it just a matter of $10-15 is not enough to pay for very much at all?
i agree with grandparent, if they do it like they did pirates, it could be great. sounds like the cast is wacky enough to pull it off. im just not sure i can work as a movie. some things only work in a setting that can only be created in a book
the more off-topic part:
indeed. im a married, decidedly straight male and i think johnny depp is awesome. he and brad pitt(if only i could speak with the accent he had in snatch) have totally ruined my hatred of them that i developed in high school. see, all the girls loved them, so i had to hate them. then i saw some great movies they were in and had to love them too. how am i supposed to hate them when they are so cool? dang.
i stand corrected. ive never done anything with my license, so it really doesnt matter to me. not like i would have if i couldve gotten a vanity, but they never even told me it was an option. i used it once, i bet i dont do it again before the 10yrs is up.
must be the guy from denver in the article that modded that a troll.
ah, well, its only karma

unless parent is a cute girl who poses as fathairyguy400lb and likes 400lb fat hairy guys...
on another note... silicone dioxide, yes? thats from quite a few years back in chemistry... what does one do with it?
most definitely. that's me too. not only that, but since my wife has one too, i know she can call anytime she is broken down in the middle of nowhere on teh way out of this forsaken college town(ever been to stillwater?).

take it easy, darl.
that would take too much time. cut out the last part, then youd have patriot act "efficiency"
so you've made your decision?
but $600 buys you a lot more hardware in a Dell (or a homebuilt system, for that matter, but that sacrifices support) than it does in an apple.
the $800 laptops there are old models. you can get (albeit stripped-down) new laptops from dell for 800.
that being said, i still wish i had the money for a g5 and a new pc

sure, its not as cool having a number tagged on the end of your address, but it works on mine with cox.

not likely, you dont get to choose your call.
however, you may still be right. maybe he made the name up from the call. those are old numbers, could be from a 60 year old.
