  1. If you don't lime my study, do your own on 'Boozy Gamer' Researcher Questioned · · Score: 1

If people genuinely think that this research is flawed and feel passionate about the issue of whether videogame violence has any negative effects, I encourage them to pursue a career in research and to potentially design their own research studies in the future. Like many other careers, a career in research requires strong mathematical, science, and writing skills. I would like to see people's energy directed towards not only becoming involved in the debate, but also in the science.

So if you don't like the conculsions of her research, go to school, get a degree and do your own. Almost sounds like she has no interest in input from anyone but her peers. Most of which are probably not gamers.

I suggest in the next version release you consolidate the various monthly payments. Many gamers have trouble tracking all the payments on time.

  3. Reasonable expectations on What Should People Understand About Computers? · · Score: 1

I would suggest that the biggest point to make, at least initially, is what expectations the average user should have regarding a PC. For example, would you (i.e., the end user) be comfortable after a 2 month driver's ed course with going down to the local scrap yard and building a new car? Or even going to the local NAPA and rebuilding the carbeurator? Of course not. For some reason people think that they should be super users 5 minutes after getting home from Best Buy. There's a lot more I'd like to say about that but it's 11:30pm and my brain is vetoing it. You get the gist. or not.

An instructor of mine used to run an IT department, and he says his SOP was to give them terminate someone immediately after getting notice, but that they'd be paid for the time they gave. He also says no one ever gave more than 2 weeks notice.

Of course it is possible to achieve group collaboration online. However, there is a fundamental difference with online groups and true personal interaction. And in that particular regard, online courses only prepare you for a job that you will be telecommuting 24/7.

We can't do that. What if parents don't make the decisions we want them to? What if they don't make politically correct decisions? We have to take the decision making process away from those directly involved. This has been a trend for the past twenty years. I don't mind saying "hey, you as a parent might want to think about giving your child this" although I still can't stand Tipper Gore regarding the "Parental Advisory: Explicit Lyrics" crap, but it's gone way too far. The government has basically decided that parents don't know how to raise their children properly, and they're going to do it for them.
