    All this talk of screenshots, how the text looks, and what-not is alot of dretch. People, the look of the window manager is a product of the window manager, NOT the distro. The text looks good be cause they use truetype fonts. The colors are cool because someone created themes/images that look that way. All the Distro has done is slapped all this stuff together, added a few programs to make things easier to config and install for the newbs, and said, "Pay us 40 dollars for selling you something that is MOSTLY someone else's work!" If you want your desktop to look L33t, save your money and open you desktop configuration program. You can make Slackware 3.x look just as cool if you compile KDE 3.1 and a few themes/backgrounds.

    Why should SuSE get paid for their effort over Redhat, Mandrake, Debian, Slackware, Gentoo, Yoper, Sorcerer, etc... What makes SuSE so special? If all the other guys are making their ISO's available, then why should we pay SuSE just because they don't?

    Ever heard of campus security? This could be considered an extension of it. Also, a sysadmin is responsible for his network. If his network is determined to be the source of violations, officials come to him. If he can't track down the offenders, then it's HIS ass and HIS job on the line, which is more than enough incentive for him to keep his network in check.

    if you're clustering them, what's the point of having a good video card?


    Not that you would use X-boxes for this, but on a similar note, some visualization clusters are specifically meant to harness the power of the video cards. The MB, CPU's and ram are just there because they have to be there (you can't plug 1024 video cards into one x86 box!)

    Confined by the same rules that hold our universe together into a tiny section of space and time.


    So you're trying to tell me first of all that space and time are separate things, and secondly that the universe exists within them? Not quite, as spacetime is the fabric that makes up our universe. There is no "before our universe" or "beyond our universe" ... unless you've entered a new one, which will have it's own version of spacetime...

    I know.. I'm being nit-picky.

    They never said they were pulling out, just shifting to makeing processors that consumors will use more, especially in devices OTHER than PC's, but they didn't say "We're not making processors for the PC market," or anything like. They're just saying that their main focus will not be the current speed race with Intel. It's fine with me. Why focus so much on pure speed of numbers, when things can be done to make the processors more useful and efficient?

    Driving tests should be harder. There should also be more of a follow-up (re-tests every several years,) and stiffer penalties for violations. Living in Atlanta, where traffic lights are merely a suggestion, is like running a gauntlet daily!!

    to make money for Nokia. As long as people will buy the "latest and greatest" companies like Nokia will continue to make products with new gimmicks. The phone part was easy. The work of making a phone like the 7650 lies in getting the OS to run on the new badazz hardware so people can do things like take pictures, listen to mp3s and play games on their phone. While you may want to only make calls, there are others who want to do all this other stuff. The bonus for you is that you can still get a phone that just communicates and not waste your money on the latest gimmicky phone.

    So can you play ALL of Quake ,etc. before it crashes on you? Do the memory leaks soon hinder your ability to make phone calls? Once microsoft can show me a something with an uptime of more than 6 months, then I'll consider it, but until then, I'll stick with only being able to play Doom...
