IMHO, no more than 10% to 15% of jobs probably require a college education. It's just that the quality of education up through H.S. in the U.S. hass, for the most part, deteriorated to a large degree. Running a small retail establishment, construction, trades, most manufacturing jobs, telemarketing, sales, many first level management, all these should not require a college degree. They didn't in the past.
So with 27% of Americans getting degrees, that's twice as many as what's really needed.
You may well be correct in saying that the streak is a shadow of a jet contrail. But I still wonder why it appears only on this photo and not the previous or subsequent one. The 'flash' could just have been the sun reflecting off the glass in the lamp during the exposure.
I've noticed this shadow phenomena myself.
Hey, you know that expensive new digital tv receiver you just bought? Well, its obsolete cause we've just sold those frequencies to the cell phone company. The new TV frequencies will be announced next week. They'll probably be the old cell phone frequencies. So,you'll probably want to get a new cell phone and a new tv receiver to handle the new frequencies.
Actually the air is slowed down quite a bit to compress it before combustion. But still the flow still remains supersonic and I'ld guess that would mean its flowing at at least 700 mph (1200 kph).
The combustion needs a continuous source of ignition and, IIRC, some chemical that spontaneously combusts with air is injected into the flow along with the hydrogen fuel.
I think you've figured out why the airline industry is pushing this technology. They could completely eliminate serving the drinks and peanuts and save beaucoup bucks.
Several weeks ago in an article interviewing a Dell exectutive, the guy stated that Dell wasn't receiving all that many requests for Opteron servers or AMD64 machines. He said the pressure wasn't all that great to offer AMD in their product line.
Well, since Dell's customers already KNOW that Dell doesn't sell AMD processor based computers, do you think that maybe those customers aren't even asking for opteron servers, and are just automatically going to HP or other vendor who does? It's kind of a self-fulfilling prophecy here. Customers' know Dell doesn't want to sell AMD machines, so they don't ask for them from Dell.
Maybe Dell's management is finally asking themselves 'Why is noone buying our high end machines?' and starting to realize that they're missing the boat by not using AMD processors in their high end machines. Maybe they're realizing that vendors selling AMD based machines are serious competitors in this market.
They've been suffering from a few 'upgrades' from major stock brokerages the last couple of days. No real new tecnical news, though. Most of us/. crowd have known that AMD has a definitive performance advantage with the AMD64 and opteron processors that Intel has pretty much acknowledged they will be unable to respond to for at least another year and a quarter. That's an eternity as far as the stock market is concerned.
AMD is in the position now to dictate prices on it's AMD64 and opteron chips. This is something that AMD has never ever had before.
There'll be hundreds, if not thousands, more of these erected in the next several years, mostly in the Great Plains states. Eventually I beleive these wind farms will cover areas equivalent to small states (think Connecticut, Rhode Island or possibly Vermont).
These are being built because, with the tax credits, they are more economical than building other means of generation.
As far as 'devaluing' the property, the farmer/landowner who receives $1000 each year in additional revenue for each of these things on his land is laughing all the way to the bank.
While I disagree with what you say about windpower not being practical for large-scale power generation, I agree with you that the use of nuclear energy should be expanded.
I believe it's Denmark where a sizeable percentage of the country's power is from wind energy.
As I voted today, ahead of me was someone who had moved and now lived in a different precint than the one he registered in. He too had been given something of a runaround by election attendants.
I'm wondering if his vote would be counted as well.
Many people aren't as bright as you. A touch screen system will make sure that a voter votes in a valid way. Many people lack the intelligence to check the chad as you did. Also some precints have ballots which are marked with a pen. If there are any stray marks on the ballots, the ballot is not counted. Voters are supposed to request a new ballot if this is the case. But voters may not readily realize that their ballot has one of these marks and hence their ballots will not be counted. A touchscreen system prevents this.
Being that the constitution states that all rights not explicitly granted to the Federal government are reserved for the states, and that the right to secede from the union isn't specified as one to be controlled by the federal government, the state should have the right to secede from the union. Lincon was acting against the constitution when he waged war against the confederacy. That my opinion. Don't know how a supreme court judge would rule on it.
Most of the money today is made with consumer electronics...
And here I thought that most of the money was made on large, government operated printing presses. I guess those counterfieters are busier than ever with their little ink jet machines and laser printers.

It'd be a bummer, though, if you got life in prision for something at the young age of 25.
Ronald Dumbsfeld was funny?
Imagine making a diamond of your deceased first wife, and putting that diamond in an engagement ring for your second wife-to-be.

The folks at NASA are probably in the bars right now celebrating and breaking their own Guinness records.

Halfway? Hell, you'ld be all the way around and home before lunch.

K'NEX are based on the older Tinker Toys. K'NEX are much better.
Or maybe asteroids?

I certainly hope it's not the latter.

Have you voted yet? If not WTF are you reading /.?
Correct. Hormel doesn't want to loose their trademark for SPAM as Beyer lost theirs for aspirin and heroin.
