I run my own one man IT business and all and I really mean ALL of the documentation is handled through Google Docs.
It is great for collaboration purposes. Version management build in and to top it all off, I never have to worry about access or backup! Especially not with Google Gears that ensures access even when the internet is down (Never happens here)
Now google docs is indeed not too great if you want to do Desktop publishing which is what some people seem to think MS Word is for. I do need the odd picture included in my documents but I wrote a little application to streamline that process.
I made it available for free on my Google site of course. My program Pastry will archive every bitmap you copy and allow for easy upload to Google or anywhere else for that matter. Have a look on: http://vandinther.googlepages.com/pastry
This thing won't work. Increasing the FOV already causes terrible distorted images along the edges of your imagery. The very reason that I took back the Matrox Tripple Head2Go device a while back.
Now you take this stretched image and project it onto a dome. The stretched images get further streched as it is smeared along the edges of the dome.
Yes it is true that you don't see much detail in your periphery but you will be perfectly capable to interpret the direction of movement in your periphery vision. Because the perspective is distorted so badly you will feel a very uncomfortable dizzying sensation every time the camera direction changes.
If you are serious about Dome projection you will need to pre-distort the image before projecting it onto the dome. Something Graphics card drivers should be capable of in my opinion but in custom software easily achieved with a shader program.
You will want to check out Paul Burkes research here:
Oh whoopees! News, I suppose that is what I recall seeing "Don't speak to the driver" in buses for public transport.
What will "Researchers" prove next. Heck they might find out we can not breathe under water or you burn your finger when you stick it into a wood fire.
Oh the joy of research, where would we be without it.
I have no need to justify my selfish attitude. It is just for me so your opinion about my attitude is not relevant.
I do however get sick and tired on people who dream up new ways to force productive people like me to give away lots of little bits of their productivity for free because someone less capable or productive thinks they have the right to something.
It is the very reason I never ever will donate money to charity while I am sucked dry by petty laws supported by morons like you.
You might as well extend this to the mentally disabled. Let's force authors to use simple words and concepts so that less intelligent people can still read and understand what is written.
Here's a law: No words longer than 8 characters are allowed. There, fixed.
Come on, let's face it. The author has a target audience and knowingly or unknowingly fails to cater for the blind. Raise the issue with the author? By all means do so. Force the author to comply? Bullshit.
Actually, the market is ready for cheap or free operating systems. The Microsoft tax is starting to become a major factor in the overal PC cost with hardware prices dropping all the time.
My cousin asked me to help her out a while ago as hew Windows XP PC with a pirated copy of windows and no License code or CD/DVD packed up. I just can not be bothered with that but since she had and old PC and no money I decided to get her one of those run off the CD kinds of linux desktop distributions.
I am not a Linux user at all and am as blind as a bat when in the console mode. To make a long story short, Various distributions failed to work on that PC among which Ubuntu en a few exotically named others. So I gave up in the end and told her to pay the microsoft tax and get it over with.
So, NO Linux is not ready for the masses at all. Of the 5 PC's in my house hold only one got as far as the desktop and even then failed to connect to the network. Even when a friend and keen Linux user started messing about in the arcane console mode he failed to get any results at all.
Yet, I can grab a windows CD, pop it in the drive, boot and those installs never fail. You get what you pay for be it that we pay way too much for Windows.
DVD's are down because people like me are sick and tired to be forced to sit to the anti piracy notice and adds every time you put the DVD on. Now I can download them without any of that crap.
Have a read of this: http://sciencenow.sciencemag.org/cgi/content/full/2007/1217/2
At the bottom of the article is states that although progress has been made for the anode, the cathode has not been improved. They say that real battery capacity gain is achieved my making the anode smaller and increase the size of the cathode. There are no numbers but I suggest that capacity increase probably is more in the order of 1.4 times and not 10 times as suggested.
Dammit. I wanted to believe this news so badly.
...They would block you from sending exe files and even zip files containing exe files forcing users to rename the file and instruct the receiver to rename them back. Very user friendly.
Oh wait, GMail blocks those already. Glad to know.z files go through. Damn, I gave it away. Soon they will be blocked too.
I see this every time. Counter arguments are put up against GW and GW believers come up and try to shoot the messenger without ever posting a single counter argument. "the overwhelming conclusions of the entire branch of climatology" is that all you can come up with? You actually believe that? This makes you an even bigger idiot than I claimed you are. But by all means instead go and complain about spelling because at least that is something you can comprehend.
I am all for reducing the impact of pollution to our nature but the scary thing is that all money and effort these days is put into reducing CO2 which has ZERO impact on nature while those billions of dollars would make a huge difference in other area's. Now funds are re-directed to CO2 reduction and the real effect is that that money is not spend elsewhere meaning that this whole GW scam negatively impacts nature.
Don't confuse pollution and nature conservation with the GW bullshit. They are two different things.
The North Pole is melting, but did you know that the south pole is growing at an equal rate? Did you know New Zealand is 1 degree colder than it was in 1864? (Nz is relatively close to Antarctica). Most people don't even know the half of it because they believe the so called "Overwhelming majority" which in fact is a political forum called IPCC.
Of course nobody should go along with this crap. "Cut back CO2" emissions? Why the hell would I want to do that for? Are you one of those gullible morons that believes in GW as much as in God? Enlighten yourself and read a bit more about GW and you will understand that there is no such thing.
Indeed. Just have a look at the decay on the forest floor of all those pristine tropical jungles. I propose we clear those jungles as soon as possible and instead grow corn for Ethanol. As for the rest of the world we need that de-leafing agent "What's the name again?" to clear trees of their leaves in spring so we won't those leaves rotting and emitting greenhouse gasses that kill Polar bears.
We all need to do our bit to stop the world from rotating, uh, I mean stop the tide. Oops, I mean stop climate change.
How can this be flame bait?
Just because the moderator disagrees?
Would I really go to the extend to publish a web-site just so I can flame a little on a geek site?
Get real!
If you had an attention span slightly beyond that of a mouse you would have looked at the more elaborate pages and the references to the more scientific material and it's research. Thanks for actually visiting the site but I suggest you read a bit more. Scientific references are all there.
If anything do me a favour just read these two documents and learn rather than just criticizing the format. It would be much more constructive.
The little advert you are referring to is designed to be printed and we can't quite afford to hire half a news paper.
Always amazes me how it is OK for this idiot Al Gore to release a Hollywood blockbuster and call it truth when sceptics are expected to quote sources on all their counter arguments. The damage the global warming idiocy is doing to this planet is becoming greater and more real because it averts our eye from those issues that really matter. Now we sit back and feel satisfied because we use a "green" mainframe computer so we "did our part"
I am getting sick to the gut from this carbon credit crap that is spouted all over the place. Doesn't anyone think any more these days?
See: www.carbonhoax.org.nz
Never bothered to buy Half-life because of the steam thing. If at all possible (With games always possible) I will not buy software that locks to specific hardware. This, because I don't trust any company to be around long enough to issue me new license codes when I change PC hardware so if I buy software I always download a pirated copy as a backup from torrent. That is my insurance.
I have had an issue with the racing game "Live for speed" . This games uses an activation server for which I bought a license and subsequently lost the license code. I emailed them, send my registration credentials transaction details but they won't even reply so $100 or so down the drain.
You don't see your local supermarket come around to take back your groceries when you change your pantry door do you?

Make a dome screen from it. The parabola is perfect for this purpose. See http://local.wasp.uwa.edu.au/~pbourke/projection/domemirror/uprightdome2/

There is also great distortion software that inserts itself between OpenGL/DirectX and the application here: http://immersaview.com/sol7.html
I am afraid that simply projecting on a Dome is just not good enough and will make you literally puke after 30 minutes or so.
Bwoaaaah aha ha ha ha... Idiot

Yep, sit back in your chair and feel good about yourself. You just did your bit for humanity and told them fascists where to stick it.
Judging the amount of insults you sling around I can guess how much you care about humans.
Classical behavior of an anonymous socialist loser. "Stop digging" ? Still he wants to tell me what to do.
I have no need to justify my selfish attitude. It is just for me so your opinion about my attitude is not relevant.

What is getting old is, arguments stating that arguments are getting old.
Old arguments don't make them less true. What is it you want? One new argument a day?
I disagree,
I dare to go as far as to call for the removal of wheelchair ramps that deface the grand entry stairs to many beautiful monumental buildings.
You might as well extend this to the mentally disabled. Let's force authors to use simple words and concepts so that less intelligent people can still read and understand what is written.

It must be very difficult to earn a living when you are disabled. In the middle ages the blind were generally reduced to beggars and died early.
Even earning a living is not a right. If you can do it you live, if you can't you die.
Nobody has the right to take my ability to earn a living and use it for others without my permission.

Bullseye! Best comment I read all day!
Yeah and also cut back on sex. The heavy breathing emits way too much CO2. The CO2 from 100 people having sex kills 1.27 Polar bears. Get a life
