Thank you for saying that. I could never imagine Apple going away from OSX to Windows. This has to be for some type of virtualizatino optimization or emulator so that you can run Windows apps on OSX. You can already run PPC apps on Intel, through Rosetta. How hard would be to "wine" it...

We can sit around all we want and say stuff like "when people get tired of (malware|viruses|spyware|whateverelse)" they will switch to (Linux|Mac).

It's just not true. People will switch when they are told to. Nothing else. Until Companies FORCE people to switch, there will be no switching.

You know, I am an OSS guy as much as most of the people on Slashdot. I would love all software to be free, but then companies wouldn't make any money.

But if closed source polls can't get it right, what makes us think that OSS polls can? Again, I'm a big OSS advocate, and I would love to see OSS in the role for everything under the sun.
I don't think the public would know, however, if people were using OSS polls or a closed source poll. Nor do I think they would care...

but I would be willing to be that they would be more secure than their closed counterparts
I know i have read somewhere of someone hacking a voting machine..

But it all falls back on the basis of all software problems. The (software|hardware) is only as smart as the person operating it.

I would love to see an experiment where an entire corporate network was made, entirely of Open Source products (except for the hardware of course). From Routers to firewalls to .... You name it.

That would be an interesting, and totally free network.

They should lock it so that MacOS can run on anything but nothing can run on Macintoshes but OSX. That might sacrifice a bit of performance and apple wouldn't like that. But it would introduce a subset of people to OSX and therefore, they will in turn, like it or not, and if they like it, chances are, they will buy a Mac.
