Yeah, I know. This Ampakine sounds real interesting to me. Especially since I have trouble getting stuff into my longterm memory. But once it's there, I have no problem with it.
Ok, then would you please let them idiots know to support the 2nd amendment as well as the 1st? What part of "shall not be infringed" do they not understand?
One of the things I have used the P2P clients (any and all) for is for finding and downloading Anime Fan Pictures. Easiest way to get a couple hundred pics of a series at once rather than trying to find fansites and dloading an image archive one at a time.
People can die when I use a chainsaw, pencil, pen, lamp, rock, stick, club, baseball bat, crowbar, CRT, LCD, Computer, Stapler, Holepuncher, chair, Cat-5 cable, phonecord, desk, old ladies walker, cane, sword, kitchen knife, clorox bleach, amonia, etc... TO bash their head in or strangle them poison them stab them and so on yet I don't see anyone complaining against most of those. Or even a car to run someone over with.
you can still occasionally see some nudity on PBS stations, though they get away with it because it's artful and tastefully done This is actually supposed to be blurred out prior to broadcast.
Given that a recent survey has pointed out that nusery rhymes had more violent content than video games
DOn't forget that todays nursey rhymes are quite toned down from the originals. Read the original uncensored brothers grim and its alot mroe violent. Especially what they do in Red Riding Hood (Hint, One of the things they do is the wolf dies by drowning)
Don't forget that ships also used LORAN. And that LORAN is still used and in service. The Coast Guard would love to shut it down but too many people still use it.
I don't think a killer app for Joe User is needed so much as a killer app for the Business Desktop. If businesses can replace Outlook and Office and the accompanying servers needed to use all of its abilities and features with an OSS alternative they would save $$$ on liscensing. That would really fuel a change over to OSS. It might not get them off MS Windows, but it would help to get them off of Microsofts other applications.
Mainly because it took the port of many current open source projects to windows to let microsoft be scared of a invasion.
I don't think Microsoft is scared of the Linux OS itself. I think they are scared that people will stop using their software (other than windows) and switch to OS alternatives. I don't think MS makes as much money through their Windows department as they do with all their other applications/programs/games and such that they program to work for only on Windows. Easiest way to figure this out would be to see where most of their revenue comes from I guess? Remember, MS did not start out as an Operating System Company, they started out as a Business Software Company with stuff like Word and Excel.
Macs have Ambrosia Software (the one reason why 6 years later I still want a Mac). Linux needs? How about if Linux could get MUCH better frame rates on the latest games? Would that be possible? Altrentatively, if someone could come up with a OSS version of Outlook with calendar sharing and so on that would be a killer ap for it. Especially since Outlook seems to be the main reason companies stick to Windows.
More like people will go, "look how crappily KDE runs", I'm sticking with [windows/equivalent program]. Users tend to think that the program runs the same no matter which OS it is running on. Which, generally, should be true.
By porting the OSS to MS Windows, people are using and getting used to OS Software in general. They only thing that it is hurting in the OSS movement is the Gnu/Linux operating system, if anything. Many people are used to using MS Windows as their operating system of choice due to the ease of use compared to Gnu/Linux (Mind you, it has been a few years since I tried a Linux instal, so I haven't tried the ones that came out this past year). But the good news is that people are looking outside of the proprietary software makers for their applications. That, at least, is a start. Besides, isn't locking in OS Apps to an OS OS no different than Microsoft locking people into using Windows for any of their apps?
How was your experience jogging with the HD? In my experience HD based players tend to skip when I run, due to the jolt when my feet hit the ground. Thats why I picked up an MPIO FL300 (matchbox size, literally, it fits inside a matchbox), which is flash based and at 1GB enough songs for running and exercise. I've figured that I should use two, one for exercise and one for "sitting still" like on a train and in the car. Will this thing work well that way or will I still have problems on bumpy roads? Also, can I use the USB HD as a standalone USB HD or do Ihave to use it through the Neuros. As a solution to your FM problem, try one of these FM transmitters from Best Buy. They should work over the noise.
In my case the reason was college. I couldn't get a bigger desk for a dorm room. Also, since I had to travel ~500 miles, I could only make 2 trips per year. One moving in, one moving out. The smaller size of the LCD compared to a CRT really helped. Also helped that it weighed so much less lugging it up two flights of stairs. My dad realized the advantages of LCD over CRT at that point.
Knock on your next door neighbors door. Tell them what you are planning on doing and that you need sugestions. Ask them if you can ask their teenage son/daughter and use their sugestions. Repeat with any and all neighbors you know of with highschool kids.
Not to be a downer but, how do we know they didn't miss anything? 5.7 million lines is a lot of code to go through and analyze. I'm also curious where they came up with the 20-30 bugs per thousand lines of code that proprietary software suffers from since they can't see the code.
Of course, we must remember, "It's not a bug, it's a feature!"
A wiretap on your net connection won't let them see unencrypted IM or Email conversations you have. Or let them get access to files on your PC. Think "Trojan+Keyloger+FTP Server" when they say spyware. (FTP server is for access to files).
Better idea, we cut off everyones pinkys and use OCTAL!
Umm... I've been border line OCD and I am OCP (personality, not disorder) for years. This won't be anything new for me.

Don't forget the ever popular Myst Series.
You forgot "Duke Nukem Forever Worshiping"

The dinosaurs died out because they didn't have a space program.

If we can get Linux as user friendly as windows
Any chance driver support and ease of driver isntalation has improved over the past 3 years?

Wow, I only paid $1100 for a 15" LCD. Of course, I needed it due to a lack of space on my desk. Never thought of getting it for the cool look.

Replace Engine with Pistons or Horse Power and it makes more sense.
