  1. Re:Yet another repugnant violation of states' righ on House Approves Electronic ID Cards · · Score: 1

Not really - the fed, state and local do this all the time. For example: states offer funding to their state colleges if they keep a dry campus - if they decide to not keep a dry campus they don't give this bonus funding. This has been practiced, and accepted. It is also very reasonable. "Do as we ask and you will receive a reward, do not do it and do not receive a reward - your choice."

Frankly, to share this information is a positive thing. The only people who will have to worry are the criminals. Hopefully the Senate will approve this; which all assumes there is nothing funky about the document (for arguments sake, lets assume that the proposed law is written as intended).

Personally, I would like to see all drivers license and state ID's look the same (a state could personalize theirs with a picture in the back). The states can still keep their same requirements for getting these id's (and their respective drivers tests), but it would really be nice if the ID's were the same. I used to work at a bank (and I work part-time as a bouncer) and it can be tricky trying to find out if an ID is real or not when it comes from a different state.

It is generally the benefit to the US to help other (friendly, trading) countries, as the US might have a similar situation. It helps promote world order, harmony, peace, funch shway, and all that jazz.

I can understand if SCO had a valid claim - but there should be something in place for frivolous lawsuits...many companies spent a lot of money defending themselves in court and in the media due to SCO.

Now just to clarify - i am not saying, that in every case - if a plaintiff loses they should have to compensate for the legal fees...but if a judge determines that a case was frivolous, then the plaintiff should have to pay. People will think twice before suing...they might actually ask "is my case valid?"

They asked me to help them order a computer (dell) and when that computer started to malfunction they kept calling me - and I kept telling them "you bought this from Dell call Dell."

One time they did an OS upgrade (a year after I setup their network) and their network connection on that computer started to malfunction. I did charge them $200 for me having to drive to their place, figure out what they did, and then reinstall the networking files.

I feel bad in some ways - but then realize that they are a business - they charge people and so should I. You may want to register as an LLC. It protects you legally (lawsuits) and you can do a lot of tax deductions...one company tried getting my SS# so they could list me as an employee and run taxes on me, etc. I told them no way...they can cut me a check to my business. They wanted that EIN number - again no way. B2B they only need your business name (only one business per state with that name allowed anyhow).
