Yes. But if you are talking about putting it to use too, remember what Robin Williams said. "God gives men a brain and a penis, and only enough blood to run one at a time.".
If it costs money to fix, but nobody will see it, who cares
Absolutely. Remember the dialogue from Fight Club.
Narrator: A new car built by my company leaves somewhere traveling at 60 mph. The rear differential locks up. The car crashes and burns with everyone trapped inside. Now, should we initiate a recall? Take the number of vehicles in the field, A, multiply by the probable rate of failure, B, multiply by the average out-of-court settlement, C. A times B times C equals X. If X is less than the cost of a recall, we don't do one.
Business woman on plane: Are there a lot of these kinds of accidents?
Narrator: You wouldn't believe.
Business woman on plane: Which car company do you work for?
Narrator: A major one.
The recall part doesn't really fit into software picture but you get the idea. If it takes us more money to fix it that to spend on the PR later on, we will leave it as is.
Didn't Kevin Mitnick get into trouble when he *accidentally* accessed a web page that was not linked from anywhere and sort of existed on its own. I can't seem to find the link to that right now.
Which brings me to my question that the article doesn't really make clear. If I do find a document that I think is sensitive, should I inform the webmaster?
If I do, how do I prove that I was not *looking* for it and only found it accidentally. Will that get me into trouble?
I recently picked up Elegant Universe after a colleague of mine recommended it. I am only 75-100 pages into the book and its a pretty intense read. I probably have to start it all over again 'coz there is a lot of stuff that just doesn't make sense the first time round though. Me not so smart, eh?
There are a lot of things going on 'behind the scenes' that nobody would tell you on the face. For eg. if you are applying to a university, the best people to get insider info is the student themselves. Even better if you have a friend.
Similarly, can we get info on any 'behind the scene' activities directly from the guys working there? Stuff that would be impossible to know if you talk to management or go via official channels.
The most important question I would like to ask is "Is the picture there as rosy as painted by the media?"
From what I keep hearing, the scenario there right now is being compared to the tech boom here (in US) in the 90s. Is it true that "If you have a degree, immaterial of what degree, you can get a tech job."
From what I've seen of people in both professions, they teach or nurse because they don't know what else to do.
Exactly. This is even worse. Teachers are imparting the knowledge to the kids which are the foundation of the society. Nurses are doing a noble job that me and you sitting on a desk cannot think of. I have a VERY HIGH respect for them.
These are the jobs that do not pay and consequentially, there are *less* people driving towards it. This has got to change.
Think of them as the base of the high rise building which is the society. The weaker the foundation, the quicker/easier it would be to make it fall.
Internet voting presents far too many opportunities for hackers or even terrorists to interfere with fair and accurate voting, potentially in ways impossible to detect
Not just hackers/terrorists but I am sure some tech savvy candidate might even go the length and 'hire' someone to do it for him/her. That would give a whole new meaning to the term *booth capturing*.
I am glad Pentagon got it right before getting the system in place. Voting is not like the weather forecast. There is an 80% chance that we counted the votes right. No. We want to know the right tally. I can wait for the paper trail to be counted instead of electronic voting giving me the result instantly without 100% reliability.
Men have larger brains than women

Yea, but how much pr0n can it fit?

I was nodding till this point. You just pushed your luck with this

Thats only a little higher that 1MP. Don't the GIS surveys need more detail than that?

Shouldn't Bjarne Stroustrup be on the list next to Ritchie and Thomson?

I usually ask "Why are we having this meeting? No. Really". It never gets answered satisfactorily. Am I asking anything wrong??
Too many jokes... must resist...

These guys are smart, aren't they?
This TOS is also going to be in some museum one day :)

The movie PI is also a very compelling watch for those who are interested.

I work in Human Resources at a Fortune 500, and I'm responsible for our campus recruiting program.
That explains why you are posting AC
The sad(der) part is that nursing and elementary teaching are in the bottom five of the list with both of them going down.
Nurses and Teachers are the people who should be paid better. Oh well.

we're nearing the end of the analog phone system?
You can't slam down one of those messsage clients. Its more satisfying to slam down the phone after you get mad at someone !
We all are knocking on the same door.
They want you to knock all over the place.
