By features, he probably meant the Java's library which is pretty huge. The language itself has very few features and it was a design goal. I prefer Python for having the best of both worlds.
It's probably going to come with the levy money labels get from Canadian blank medias. I'm happy they can't sue in Canada as long as they accept receiving this as a fair compensation for piracy but the artists are once again getting shafted.
I'd make it 5 years coporate, 5 years (or maybe 10) renewable once for individuals. Maybe it would encourage companies to leaves control of their products to artists so the copyright would last longer.
Seconded, SVS is excellent. It enables you to cleanly uninstall anything it manages since it tracks where everything goes, to switch off apps as if they were never installed and to use applications which aren't compatible together easily (switch one off, turn on the other and reverse at will).
The download page says "120 days evaluation" but when you install it asks if it is for personal use and offers a free license.
I wouldn't install anything on XP anymore without it. I wonder how it works on Vista.
The best structure IMHO would be to have only one main TLD which would be int (for International or Internet, your pick) and country TLDs subdivided as each country wishes. So there could be a.us.com in which the US could enforce the commercial nature of websites if they wish so or.us.gov or dot us dot whatever they want. Same for each country.

It's largely based on the qooxdoo javascript library.
According to the GPL FAQ the resulting file can only be GPLed if some of your application code is inserted in it but it can't be guaranteed to stay GPL as that bit of code can be stripped.
One explanation is that, given the fact that humans are neotenous apes, they retained their propensity for not really questioning or examining the information their parents give them, because in children, that would be disadvantageous (if a parent tells you you can drown in water, it's often a bad idea to go in and experiment just to be sure, since the experiment is likely to kill you).
From there, it's just a matter of a meme developing to take advantage of that.
I do believe this is true. Not many people would think "that so makes sense" if the first time they heard about religion was when they turned 18. But I wonder about the need for religion.
I read in some anti-Santa Christian rambling, that a group of Christian conducted a study which found that "if you weren't saved before you turned 13 years old, you'll never be." The rest of the article bordered on the unintentionally funny but this made me think. Lots of Christians and "not-Christian but spiritual persons" are saying that you have an inherent, inescapable need for something of a spiritual nature. However, I don't. But I wasn't a believer as a kid either.
I wonder if believing in those crucial years leaves a need for something religious-like. I know people who feel no need whatsoever for religion and I know people who crave replacements at all time.
Paying taxes on lottery winnings doesn't make sense anyway. The state is holding the lottery and they keep the profits. What's the difference between giving you twice the money and taking half after or taking your cut first?
That's very nice. I'm sure they'll have no problem monitoring their kids online activities when they lose the house and internet access because they get fired because everyone complains about how they "only" work 40 hours a week so they can be a good parent.
Meh, I'm happy that where I live, 40 hours/week is an accepted standard.
You might be interested by this project that aims to create a tool just like GWT but for Python.

Their goal for 0.1 was all Google examples at least mostly working on Firefox and this is what they released. Their goal for 0.2 is all Google examples, completely working on all browsers.
I wouldn't use it yet in my projects but I'll keep an eye on it. I tried GWT and despite being Java, it's very sweet. I'm eager to be able to do the same thing with python.
No that's okay. It's not the same kind of people at all who would work on making it speedier and creating new templates. If some people have skills they want to use to make even more templates and cliparts and whatnot, they have my blessing.
Yes, Microsoft does. I can't help but wonder if their goal since they are 100 opt-in (as opposed to Google being opt-out) isn't to give bullets to those who want to sue Google for indexing all the books they can get their hands on : see, Microsoft ask for permission, why not Google!
I thought you were referring to the MS Office / OpenOffice comparison document Microsoft released a while back. It was released as a pdf and argued that.doc was a perfect exchange format since everybody could read it. According to its meta-data, it was also made on a Mac with Quark Xpress:)
It could be. But if it is owned by the artists, it won't keep 92% of the profit for itself. The current labels have to die. Minimalist one owned by artists could exist.
*or*... they could disappear and music bands could turn back into what they once were: live performers, who were paid to play music on a stage.
If artists decide to cut the middle-man and sell their music directly instead of using labels (or maybe some could create a coop to do it for them) then they could sell it very cheap (lets say $4.99) and make more money (labels gives them on average 8%). Lots of people would buy cheap shiny disks with nice printed lyrics booklets.
With the cost of recording an album going down, labels are obsolete and deserve to die.
I call bullshit.
I've been using XP with automatic updates turned on for years, and not a single problem has occurred.
Not a single problem. Face it, Apple and Linux fanbois, Windows just works.
You are not getting what he said. What he did is the equivalent of upgrading from Windows 2000 to Windows XP in just one step, no reinstall.
When Windows is going to be able to do that in Windows Updates, we'll compare apples to apples.
Punishing trolls would make the process go faster for everyone else. If you remove all the stupid non-sense patents, it's much faster to review what's left. You could also declare the official date the patent was filed to be right after the queue.

You'd get 51 if you disabled adblock.

I'm Canadian, I'm already paying for all the music I can download via a levy on blank medias.

A reboot also required when you apt-get a new language but you don't do that regularly.

No, they have to make the whole source available if they redistribute. You don't even have to publish changes if you don't redistribute the app.

Ubuntu have an OEM version which would make life much easier for Dell.
Beside, Canonical is providing support for Ubuntu.
And they hate being called French Canadians.
