I like ask slashdot, asshole, I just don't like how it is becoming a way to say "Please do my job for me because I'm a complete moron and cannot do it myself" read some of the previous ask/.'s and check for yourself. "How do I set up *blah* at my work?" "How do I get *blah* working at my company?"
If you cannot do your job, leave it and let your place of employment get someone who can do the job.
Alright, you can get around it with a command line option, but why are the intro videos so fricking long and getting longer with every game that comes out?
Need For Speed Underground 2 has the EA GAMES video, one about how racing is dangerous and how you should only do it in the game, and a bunch of other crap.
What's next? "For a better gaming experiance, drink Mountain Dew brand soda while eating Cheetos brand puffed corn snacks! Pick them up at your local 7-11 today!"
While we're discussing EA, I was wondering why the little videos played before their games actually load are getting longer and longer.
Battle For Middle Earth has the EA logo, THX, New Line Cinema, and a 5 minute video about the series. You can skip the 5 minute video, but not the minute of logo videos..
Battlefield 1942/Vietnam is the same, you can't skip the "EA GAMES" logo.
We don't care who made the game, we want to PLAY the fricking thing.
Is anybody else noticing that these videos are getting longer and longer?
At Hoyts (Regal) cinemas there's something called "The 20" it is 20 minutes of crap before the "Get Snacks" which comes before the 10 minutes of trailers to movies you will not see and after that is the 92 minute action packed suck-fest.
The 20 is basicly.. "Check out *television show*" for 5 minutes. "Check out *video game*" for 5 minutes. "behind the scenes of Meet the Fockers" for 5 minutes and "Check out *reality television show*" for the last 5. With a re-cap of what you just sat through at the end.
It used to be a slide show for local shops which I liked, mixed in with movie trivia which was actually fun.
I guess I shouldn't expect more, seeing as how the majority of the population doesn't even register to vote, and only 50% of people registered to vote even bother to show up..
It doesn't matter how many people are represented by the person, votes were thrown away by these voting machines.
BitTorrent is great when there's a whole lot of people who want the file. But when they've all gotten the file and there's only one or two seeds and 5 or so peers, the speeds are horrible and people get angry.
Also, Blizzard needs to add a way to limit one's upload. Their "download tool" maxes out my upload and that totally ruins my ability to download.
You created an account to post that?
What the hell does that even mean?
Come on, your UID is so low and you don't know how to use /. yet?
Read the "Allowed HTML" under the Submit button.
...
Read what you typed again.
Doesn't make it no less of an ad?
So it DOES make it less of an ad?
Stephen King: The Dark Tower Hardcover - $50
$50~ for a hardcover that will last maybe 20 hours?
$2.5/hour is more expensive.
Actually, with Battle For Middle Earth and NFSU2 the videos show, and after that there is another screen that has the game title and "Now Loading"
It's not saving time ever.
And I already PAID $50 for my god damned game, why do I have to see a video with a creepy kid's voice telling me to challenge things?!

Covered on TheReg.
Unrelated?
/. is "Tell me how to do my job, /.!"
/. rule that says "If you can find an answer on google in under 5 minutes, you cannot submit this story"
Every single ask
And this one is no different.
He's asking us to do his job for him for free, while he gets paid for it.
And, hey, what happened to google? Did they close down already?
There needs to be an ask
Please do my job for me.

That is total bullshit and you fucking know it.
Every single election, be it for President, Mayor, or Town Dog Catcher is important and ANY fuckups cannot be accepted.
Oh shit, thanks captain slappy!
Are you being a smart ass or are you really that stupid?

I download most of the movies I want to see now.
Thanks Hoyts (Regal)!
Question:
Why is it that a fresh windows install has no "Sign up for AOL" icons, while the Dells and Gateways do?
Is it because you're wrong?
Probably.
I think we always hate AOL.
That looks an awful like the post you made a few days ago. You know, this one.
Don't make a fuss over it?

It doesn't matter how many people are represented by the person, votes were thrown away by these voting machines.
That's like saying "I'm going to decide the outcome of this election by checking 5 votes from each district."
How do you know that the votes wouldn't have gone for Candidate B?
You cannot know.
Insightful?
May I be the first to say that the guy who modded that was on crack.
Did you read the rest of my comment?
Do so, please.
