Well, I stand corrected. I saw this morning that they've been trying to get the money for the levies since the 60s.
Long sotry short, you want someone to blame and the President is it. Of course, that has no basis in reality...but hey...have at it. Now, if you want to be made at the President, it's not like you need this situation to get you rolling.;)
"Hell, the dikes wouldn't have overflowed if the repair money to fix them hadn't been diverted to the dept of homeland "security" last summer."
Not true. I guess it makes for a more dramatic story if they leave out the facts. Simple fact is, if the money had not been diverted, the money would of been spent on a project which would still not have been completed and the city would have still be lost. But, telling half truths on the news makes for a much better story. I heard this from an Army Corps of Engineers representative on the news this morning. According to him, even if they had started the project in 2002, the project probably would not have been completed until at least 2008. This is 2005, last I checked, which means the project probably wouldn't of started until about a year ago, which means we would of flushed that money with the rest of the city.
I've said this before and I'll say it again. You're not stating the facts right. The FACTS are, global warming is happening! Period. No one with a brain disputes this. Period. What is in dispute is if man is the cause of current warming trend or if this is all part of normal cyclic environmental changes over a large period of time (20,000 - 60,000 years). Some even claim much smaller time scales are can be applied and we don't have data for those scales either.
As no one from 20,000 years ago is around to tell us about weather trends of yester year, it becomes a real tough nut to figure out where we are on the trend line. And if we are off the trend line, by how much? And, ultimately, if we are off, and know by how much, we still have no clue to even understand if it's "a lot" in the grand scheme of things.
"Not sure how it will come out in the post mortem investigation but I saw a post here yesterday in which a study in 2004 indicated the levies in New Orleans were in dire need of repair and the money for their repair had been diverted by the Bush administration from the Army Corps of Engineers to the war in Iraq and to homeland security. If that proves to be the case you can scratch one city thanks to the incompetence of the Bush administration."
I saw someone from the Army Corps of Engineers state that even if they had started working on the project in 2002, it doubtful they would of been completed until at least 2008. Simple fact is, chances are, it would of been more money wasted on an incomplete project when the levies broke. Now then, having said that, the US has known that this was a serious problem since the 90's (I don't recall the exact date as I was getting ready for work), IIRC, and they still have done nothing.
Long story short, be pissed at Bush for anything you want, but to blame him for simply holding the status quo here, is just plain bashing. If you insist on bashing Bush for this, then your statement can only be true if you revise it as, "If that proves to be the case you can scratch one city thanks to the incompetence of every administration, including the Bush administration, since the 90s." Not exactly a deep-heart stab as you'd planned.
For your argument to have merit, by all measures, BSD should be dead. It's not. Heck, even the shy OS known as hurd keeps on crawling. Long story short, you can not kill off something that is free. Sure, it may die a nature death, but kill it off? Nope....at least not as you've put it forward...
...except they teach what's, "in the book"....so it is very topical. Likewise, other religions teach what is in their book...sadly, their book is even more broad and draws a wide line of seporation between them and everyone else. There live by two sets of laws. Unless someone specifically spells out that murdering "infidels" is wrong, they are all taught by their book that it's okay because someone declared a fatwa...thus no one speaks out against it and it is passively accepted.
Most mainstream religions do specifically speak out against such actions. "Thou shall not murder...", etc., is fairly well known. Those that teach otherwise are not part of the mainstream and have purposely had distance placed between them and their ideaologies. This is why, when a crackpot popped up in Wacko, Texas, everyone knew he was a crackpot...yet he proclaimed to be Christian.
Amazing how stupid the mods can be. There is nothing "flamebait" about that post! Period. I did incorrectly state...as many pointed out that "mostly" is absolutely the wrong word to use there. Nonetheless, there is nothing "flamebait", misleading, or even inaccurate in my state (aside from what I just clarified). Just because you don't like what I said or maybe disagree is NOT reason enough to call it flamebait.
Please help correct the mods which are to stupid to correctly function here.
That's because no fatwas had been issued. People in the west which practise those religions have been pressured by the west to do just that. Thus, you are starting to see fatwas issued IN THE WEST. These fatwa, issued by the people living in the west, have little to no impact on those living in the middle east.
Simple fact is, you have nothing to apologize for.
Did you notice the key part of your post has, "North America" in it? I'll get excited when the same statements are made by Muslim leaders in the Middle East and it becomes part of their normal doctrine.
First of all, Humans ARE apes. Secondly, we did not evolve from any other species of ape that exists today (chimpanzees, gorillas, orangutans, bonobos). We share a common decent with them, we had the same ancestors. There is a very easy way to show how this is true.
Interesting because the facts disagree with you.
You are probably aware that the DNA of humans and apes is 98% identical
And we shared something like 48% in common with corn. That doesn't means we're all 50% corn. LEt me know when you have facts.
Humans and the Great Apes share no less than 12 identical such 'scars' in the exact same places in our genetic code. The only way this could happen is if the scars were created before the different branches split off from each other.
Interesting. That in of it self, I do not believe, supports your position. Let me be clear here, I'm not saying that the theory of human evolution is wrong. What I am saying is that, as the facts currently exist, a huge leap of faith is required to get from ape to man.
There is a huge difference here. With Muslims, the religous leaders are not standing up and preaching terrorism is bad. Rather, to the West they say they don't support that yet remain silent within their own teachings.
That's passive endorcement. If they wanted to stop it, their leaders would be a whole lot more vocal about it...but since it's mostly the west that suffers from it, they remain silent...passively assisting the corrupt teachings.
People like him are the vast majority. Creationists are the minority. It's just they are a vocal group that gets lots of press so everyone runs around thinking that Christian always = insane belief in Creationism.
To make matters worse, most people get completely confused between the theory of evolution and the theory of human evolution. They are related topics but are completely different. There exists little, concise proof, that humans evolved from ape. There exists tons of proof that evolution is real. People, including scientist, often use the theory of evolution to justify belief in the theory of human evolution. That's just not good science. Science is about facts proving a theory. Using one theory to prove another theory, without facts, is bad science, plain and simple.
For some reason people become completely irrational about the topic at hand and science suffers. You want the crackpots to shutup? Do more good science and less lip service to theories which do not have a large enough body of evidence to support it. Best of all, stop stating the theory of human evolution as fact. Simple fact is, it's a THEORY! Does this mean the only possible alternate theory is intelligent design? Hell no!
...everyone knows that if the idea didn't come from a guy in marketing that has no idea what he's talking about, it has absolutely no value to customers.
This is why every time some talks about a trip to mars, they tend to talk about older astronaughts rather than young ones. This way, even those that do get cancer will not have their life cut significantly shorter.
For what it's worth, I've heard that same statement many times my self. Of course, that doesn't mean it's valid...it's probably true or an urban legend with legs...;)
People who consider switching platforms over $150 are pretty brainless.
But much less so than those that make such blanket statements. Appliations drive platforms and not the other way around. If a platform supports a user's applications (like functoinality), then there is certainly plenty of room to assume it's a reasonable move.
Case in point, for MS, you pay $150.00 plus all your applications. On Linux, for example, you pay zero and for many applications, you pay zero again. People that assume $150 is the sole cost of running MS as a platform and then brow beat them is what's blainless in my book.
Believe it or not, lots and lots of people use MS to web browse, write emails, write an occational formal letter or document and that's it. Alternate platforms can easily do just that. And contrary to popular BS-myth, most Linux distros are as easy, if not easier to install than MS; assuming you're not running POS or MS only hardware. And, clicking a menu item to start your application isn't exactly rocket science, regardless of what platform you run.
Put your money where your mouth is and tell me where Intel has ever claimed that their software supports non-Intel hardware and then I'll admit you may have some ground to stand on.
What a fucktard. I don't have to. All I have to say is that Intel claims to support Intel CPU's. Period. Get this in to your stupid, pea sized brain. AMD IS AN INTEL COMPATIBLE CPU! THEY DO NOT REQUIRE INTEL TO CLAIM COMPATIBILITY. AMD CLAIMS COMPATIBILITY. IF AMD IS NOT COMPATIBLE, THEN THAT'S AMD FAULT, NOT INTEL'S! PERIOD!
Intel has purposely executed slower code paths for all non-Intel CPU's. That can damage alternate CPU vendor's performance reputation. Period. That's their case. Period. Any alternate angles you seem to be smelling is the oder from your ass.
Anyone that gives a rat's ass about spelling in this type of environment is completely worthless. Deep down, you know it. Look at the environment. You think for a second I'm trying to impress you? What a fucktard! You can either walk away know the facts and the truth or you can ignore it and make pEthetic excuses. LOL. It's up to you.
Yes, it took 10-days to reply because I have a life and am not a complete loser such as your self.
What a worthless fucktard you are. This is the last reply you will get from me. If you're too stupid to understand why you are a dumb, stupid, troll, with a fucktard brain at this point, then it's obviously true. Think about it.
Well, I stand corrected. I saw this morning that they've been trying to get the money for the levies since the 60s.

Too bad there isn't a -1 ignorant troll mod button for posters...it would apply here.

I think you're replying to the wrong person.
When you said, "Why, considering how remarkably similar humans and apes are?"
Last reply on this topic because you're just baiting and this is obviously going no where.
That's because no fatwas had been issued. People in the west which practise those religions have been pressured by the west to do just that. Thus, you are starting to see fatwas issued IN THE WEST. Flamebait? How about flaimbait modding....what an idiotic mod.
What the heck was flaimbait there???
Seen a wet dog? Some look like rats/rodents. They are remarkably similar to rats. Does that mean they are related too?
Take a look around...looks is not a good platform to build on.
Just FYI, a recent study came out that said we are actually more closely related to chimps than apes...there goes your "we are apes" argument too.
Did you notice the key part of your post has, "North America" in it? I'll get excited when the same statements are made by Muslim leaders in the Middle East and it becomes part of their normal doctrine.

> Bullshit.
US groups are not the same thing. In the middle east, your statement is lost and I'm spot on.
