    Its called code reuse. Not done well, mind you, but MANY MANY linux distributions have the EXACT same problem.

    Take WMP for instance. It is really just a front end to the Windows Media API. Funny thing is, to install this arguably essential component of windows, Media PLayer comes with the package. They also do this for MAPI... thats why you get Outlook Express.

    In a nutshell, Windows started out as a bunch of tech demos for the underlying technology. Now Microsoft is developing the "Proof of concept" mini-apps into full fledged applications.

    P.S. Before the grammar nzi's strike, I do know that my spelling and grammar have a lot to be desired.

    Launch the executable with the command line flag -turbo. This will cause the libraries it uses etc. to stay loaded (The same works for firefox). Youll see much better speed.

    Its kind of like Chuck E Cheese.... rather then sell, give away, or donate their old and broken down machines, it is strict policy to have the games destroyed to hinder and kind of, sort of, maybe even a million years from now, competition.

    3dfx was the best driver provider by far for anything. Hell, even their alpha drivers were more stable then ATI/Nvidia offerings today.

    We all generally have the opinion that AOL is "Evil", but if I had to list ONE GOOD THING about them, it would be that even if I am in Antarctica, I could get a dialup provider via AOL. I think that is the reason for a LOT of their original customer base. When people move to broadband, they probably find that AOL isnt the "internet", and simply leave. It lost its appeal, so this is just AOL going back to doing the one thing they are good for.

    ... one of those big super computers with all of the blinking lights and huge spool of tape spinning around. I've even known a few companies that were "disposing" of them. Unfortunatly, like most Mac owners, their policy tends to be "Throw it out. Don't let anyone else have it", so to this day, I am supercomputerless

    Which certainly could be true. But if they are indeed this widespread, I would have to say the election couldnt have reflected accurately what the people voted. With an election as close as this, wouldnt you feel better if they did it again and found Bush still won, rather then not approaching it, and wondering for the next 4 years...?

    I dont really think it is about "Getting over it". The election was very close. I would say close enough that if these anomolies hold any truth, then the election may have had a different turnout without them.

    I prefer to have it done right vs. just letting an undeserving candidate take a job that shouldnt be theirs.

    It is one of those things that are supposed to help you read by preparing the reader for what they are reading.

    It is similar to having the upside-down question marks and such in spanish... it is so the reader knows up front that they are reading a question.

    Not that easy. It seems you are more gearing your arguement toward FAT or some similar filesystem, Ill gear my retort torwards it. The file name is in fact marked that it is deleted, but the chain in the file system is broke. It all has to be removed from the table so the driver knows that those sectors can be used. In the case of FAT, the best you have from the filesystem entry is the first cluster.

    Maybe I am just being silly... but why would an Xbox need a TV tuner when its hooked up to a... TV. Im sure the TV works just fine with what its got
