Exactly right except the IBM Deskstars. Those disks were absolutely unstoppable until they sold off their goods to fujitsu. I'm sure we'll say the same about the Thinkpads.:(
My IBM Deskstar 1.7G was one of the fastest drives of its class (if not the fastest) and it lasted me up until the present. That's almost NINE YEARS!:O Insane! Unthinkable that this drive is so bad now that they're called the Deathstars...:P
The iBook and 12" Powerbricks have a different screen manufacturer than the 15" and 17" PB's. Unfortunately the iBook screens are teh suck or maybe I'd think of getting one of those (but more likely the 12" PB.) Even after the latest "refresh" on the Powerbricks, the 12" is still the crappy iBook screen.:(
I completely agree with you on the sub-three lbs idea but have you looked at the market? Lappys this slim/light go for big dollars which Apple would never allow to go for iBook pricing. Look at their higher end of hogs - the Powerbricks aren't even close to three lbs. The iBook can never be better than the Powerbook so unfortunately this dream can never be true.:(
>>If everyone, right up to and including Linus abandoned Linux, I'd still be able to dig out my Red Hat CDs and install it on an old PC.
That's right, you could. Now what's keeping you from doing the same with DOS 6.22 or OS/2 Warp? Nothing! You could do the exact same thing with those two OS's but I'm sure you'd agree, they're basically toast, right? If the people who develop for the platform stop then the platform will rot and likely die. After all, you can still write apps for those older OS's but you don't. What makes you think you would for Linux?
WWF was having battles with the other WWF for years about the name. The World Widelife Fund finally won a few years back over the World Wrastlin' Federation. Are they in the same specific domain? Maybe, they both have to do with animals...
After a few good points you have to go and completely discredit yourself with the same old, tired falsehoods.
Read up so you don't make the same foolish mistake again.:P I bet you thought that last McDonalds point was the clincher, didn't you? Don't quote what you don't know.
I far from "cut my teeth" on WinAMP but have found that it IS a clean, simple interface! I remember my first app was some silly little app named "MP3Player" or something like that. It was on windoze and it worked well. I tried messing around with Sonique (and previously, its predecessor, can't remember the name:P) and other stupid apps on Windows. They all sucked badly compared to WinAMP. Now even though on windows I can barely stomach any player besides WinAMP, at home, I use Amarok even though I have XMMS installed.
how do you already have a dothan processor? I thought that chip was to be released along with Sonoma?? You have it on the desktop? Please provide details as I've been drooling over that chip for the past six months!:)
yes, but his point is that from a governmental standpoint, it's easier to say "all drugs are bad as they stand in the way of positive societal growth." we know it's bullshit, they know it's bullshit, but to make things easier on themselves, it's easier to simplify the "problem" and get out that single, huge paintbrush...
not just related to online, either? This sort of thing happens to all businesses. You don't think car dealerships or retail stores have those customers that require additional attention?
Honestly, this sort of thing shouldn't even be news to anyone who's ever stood behind that annoying person in line at a store. So ???
Shit, we make 10 times what our Indian counterparts make, so double the hours doesn't seem so bad.
yes, but obviously what you're paid is a useless bit of trivia lest you consider the cost of living. 10 times the wage != 10 times richer in the end. you know as well as we do how much it costs to live on that damn island, mini-skirts or not...
I think Rossi proved that you can have a shit bike and still win. This year he went to the worst bike on the grid from the best the previous year. He absolutely owned everyone this season and last. Bikes aren't quite as bad off as F1, obviously.

... too bad your car was stolen three times a month, eh?

yes, they did.
Sea Monkeys are real - they're a type of shrimp. Good try on the joke, tho!

Because with a Dothan he could have at least twice the performance for similar cost and hardware he chooses and likes.
nice.
Obligatory links.
Thanks for the info! Just thought about looking into this recently so thanks for the starting point. :)
Luckily for you there is no such thing as a Sonoma server. Not sure how hot you'd be, tho, since Sonoma is the laptop solution. ;)
but what can it be upgraded to?
hey, thanks very much for the info. :)

You're welcome.

true, alternatives are necessary. Hoping javascript will just go away is not going to make it so, tho. :)
