No, this is a tool that automates circumvention of a security system, like lockpicks. The convience stores where I live don't let HS students wear their backpacks into the stores. Purely an anti-shoplifting measure, and no one cares because there's no reason for someone to wear their backpacks into a tiny, single room store.
Now, if they started sueing people who wrote out the steps to burn the music to a CD, then re-rip it without the DRM, then I would agree with you.
What if DRM had never been invented? What if it was 100% clear that nobody would buy DRMed songs?
If the RIAA had never gotten to the point it has, then yes, your point stands, but if iTunes didn't place DRM on it's music then the RIAA would refuse to allow them to distribute their music, killing the service because there wouldn't be nearly enough demand for the music it could distribute.
And DRM is just an extension of the same securities that prevent a hacker from defacing your website and rewriting your HD files, or even posting as you on slashdot. While a slightly different implementation, that login promt you get is what validates your browser as allowed to upload comments under your name. Without DRM at all, computers wouldn't exist as they do today, and the internet wouldn't exist either.
Apple should improve their protection, not try to hide the fact that it is fucked up.
So you WANT them to become like microsoft when it comes to DRM? Crippling the song to the point you can't even listen to it without calling the company up and requesting a 64byte key code that's only good for that particualr 30 seconds?
There's not much you can do to "improve" drm. You can strengthen it, but that takes the usability away from the end user. Playfair is going to be used by competing DRM designes as proof that apple can't protect your content, and therefor shouldn't be used. And the RIAA is going to use it to bully apple into imposing stronger DRM methods or risk losing the "privelages" to distribute RIAA approved music.
Wasn't REAL one of the companies complaining to the EU about microsoft forcing bundling of mediaplayer with windows and not including competitors players like realplayer?
That's like kicking the lion while petting it and sticking your head in.
Was he trying 10.0 community or 10.0 official? Cause if he tried 10.0 official with all it's bugfixes then he's got a damn fast connection and can install/test it faster than a ferret on caffein.
Think of the official along the lines of service pack 2 for any windows version, all the really major bugs have been worked out and you can install without fear of your hardware getting sucked into another dimension.
Of course, you could always just write a plugin to mozilla that renders webpages using 3d fonts and formatting, and display flash animations by seperating the layers and giving them depth.
Ya know, I find it sad that you could probably get better webpage imaging by converting the 2d into 3d...

Next year: Patching... That'll shut em up... For a minute.
Say what you will, just don't come crying back here when they start charging you $0.99 for "ring tone reproduction" every time you recieve a call on your cell phone.
Funny, when this exact argument is being used against kazaa and the like, everyone throws up their arms in protest, claiming it still has legit uses.
I don't use this or kazaa, no reason, but I sure as hell wouldn't want to see either shot down just because they ave illegal uses along with legal ones (once that happens, how long till computers themselves are heavily restricted, if not banned because someone claims it's "painfully obvious computers are the tools of criminals and terrorists").
Stick both ends onto your computer with a 49km loop of cable connecting the two. Then just compress your data, and send it through the loop constantly. Kinda like putting your pr0nship on a holding pattern where no one else can touch it.
Normally when you speed nothing bad happens. You don't generally get stopped, you don't generally get a ticket. With a single punishment for every 300 times you do something, there is a disconnect.
I hit a deer at 75 on the interstate once, now I generally drive around 5mph slower than the speed limit.
See, life threatening situations can cause a drop in average speed a lot better than tickets ever will, so maybe they should setup a system that releases deer when it detects an oncomming speeding car.
What ever happened to the old addage, "if you can't beat 'em, join 'em. If you don't want to join 'em, then trick everyone into thinking you're 'em." Damn you Bill Gates!
That's a proprietary Microsoft business technique, though Amazon is attempting to sue for patent ownership.

No more than when a cop drives around looking at pedestrians and cars for signs of inebration.
All they're doing is creating a search program that will look at all the databases at once and find stuff deep in 10million entry long lists, the stuff a human would never be capable of searching through in a timely manner, and without glazing over from monotony.

What about the passthrough holes it created when you use ICS? Delete them all you want, they'll just reopen themselves.
Before or after adjusting for inflation?
Some servers are 64bit while the rest are still only 32 ya know.

We could do the goverment a favor by setting up an e-mail account for them to send their complaints and bill proposals to. /dev/null@someplace.com

Great, another subject for spammers to latch onto, PDA and cell mod chips.
I wonder if we could sue to block this on grounds of conspiracy to create spam?

So it's a secret alien plot to change the length of the day, so we all suffer from constant jet lag?

Well, that's better than Diebold's source for their machines to be used later this year:
If (Vote == Bush)
BushVotes++;
Else If (Vote == Kerry)

CallFBI(VoterID, VoterLoc);

Strange, when I create new e-mail accounts, like my work account, I generally have a couple messages of spam waiting for me already.
Eh, unintentional proof of my monotony statement.
