Actually, I'd guess it's more along the lines of "The software we developed and use FOR INDIVIDUALS can't handle it so we shunt it over to the other computer THAT IS RUNNING DIFFERENT SOFTWARE". Nothing to do with OS other then/. is now apparently anti-windows. -- at least for the last few years.
I always WANT to like ATI because they provide much needed competition for Nvidia. However, I had a 9600XT when HL2 came out and had nothing but trouble with the drivers. I know that some people don't, but for me, I'm sticking with Nvidia because I've had such a bad drivers experience.
(Crashing, kludgy drivers, settings not staying during games, etc.)
Because in the US our politicians are too busy making sure their big-business cronies are well fed to worry about things like promoting technology in the nation.
We've had more law and arguing over filesharing and limiting game sales to children then we have had about getting affordable broadband to the entire nation.
And then we have the gall to wonder why we are quickly becoming an also-ran in the technology world.
"People are buying iPods because they are [baleeted!] very stylish, even cool"
Let me fix that for you. Ipods aren't significantly smaller then their competition, and according to my non-geek friends they aren't significantly easier to use either.
Because Microsoft wasn't willing to tell all users of antiquated, poorly designed software to bugger off.
They are SLOWLY getting software companies to write software that doesn't require admin access, and they are slowly moving away from using administrative accounts.
They'll get there, but because of their widespread use, they can't move as fast.
"Joe Brockmeier and I have teamed up in a story on NewsForge to point out how the mainstream and trade press misrepresent the annual summary of vulnerabilities from US-CERT. They're doing it again this year to make it appear as if it is more secure than UNIX/Linux.
What the @#$@# does this (bolded) it refer to? Did someone clip out a reference to Microsoft Windows? Please -- 5 minutes of proofreading?
Actually, they seem to be doing a great job with their Media Center version of Windows, and the xbox360 interface is reportedly a very good one.
If they integrate it into Media Center properly, I can see it being sustainable and then taking off as people find out how useful and just plain cool a media center (of any variety) is.
Now if Apple gets TV into their product and gets full media integration into a minimac or other media center pc, they could well maintain their stranglehold on the market.
This is all assuming the media content companies don't sink the whole system up by trying to raise prices too high. That's probably giving them too much credit though.
If you want to take it on an extended backpacking trip, screw you because there's no user-changeable battery. Or you can shell out an additional $40 for a battery pack. (Batteries not included.)
Want to take songs off of it and put them on your other computer. Screw you again! You'll need to pay for 3rd party software to easily do that.
Funny or dead-on? I see someone else agrees with me that the US is fast becoming the international leader in lawsuits and nothing else. =(
We're (and by we I mean the folks making the laws -- and yes, I did vote) so busy with things like the DMCA, broadcast flags, and creating new and more invasive DRM that we're quickly falling behind in other areas of innovation.
You bring up exactly how phone calls should be handled while driving (if they must). The call should be a lower priority then driving. This means that there will be a lot of missed sentences, "what was that"s and maybe even some long ackward pauses on the phone. The driving on the other hand is top priority and should be uninterupted.
For the record though, I don't own a cell phone and think that they just plain shouldn't be used.
And that is one of the reasons that I would feel safe investing in Nintendo and the "revolution". I personally own a gamecube for gaming with non-gamers (which almost all my female friends would consider themselves) and a PC for the "hardcore" games.
So how do we explain the overly gigantic MALES typical to video games? Are they there for the homosexual male?
Granted, some games do show a bias toward sexualizing only one of the sexes, but most games (at least the ones I play) tend to be equally unrealistic toward both. (Especially in actual body shape -- clothing seems to be more sexual on the feminie side.)

Well, I can't agree on the "only one" part, but I sure am looking forward to QW:ET.
The teaser movie grabbed my interest and the gameplay sounds right up my alley. (At least until Natural Selection:Source gets done.)
Supposedly the Quake 4 multiplayer is fairly similar to Quake 3. I wouldn't know since I don't care for that type of multiplay.
(Natural Selection is my cup of tea for the moment.)

THEN you go download the pirate version.
I'm fairly certain the question was how long AFTER launch--as in after the product is actually finished.
What, your computer isn't hooked to your big screen TV?
:P
And you call yourself a geek. For shame!

Sony?
I'm gonna have to pass I think until I can be sure that it won't upload a rootkit to my PC to prevent any attempts to back it up.

O_O
Great googly moogly, that doesn't seem to be a problem
Yes. There are also products meant for personal computers that serve as simple firewalls blocking all (or some) traffic from IPs in the database.
Protowall and PeerGuardian are two that spring to mind, and I'm sure you can find links to the database they use from there.

Exactly.
Most online activities, like standard websurfing,
Yes, if we want to remain in the 90s, then our current broadband is sufficient.
However, if (any nation) wants to remain at the forefront of technology, then continuing to push the envelope is required, ESPECIALLY of broadband.
No worries, companies are CURRENTLY sueing people who tell you what songs say. We're already 90% of the way there.
It's OK, I just go find the +5 posts, repost them and use the karma to meet hot chicks.
