there are usually laws about "brandishing" and more general "deadly weapon" laws that come into play there. the legalities vary significantly state to state (and locality to locality), and the practicalities vary mostly based on the attitude of the local law and whether you have any pull.
This is government at its simplest and most honest: the struggle for power and influence, consequences to the people be damned. Let those who would expand the powers of their own governments forget this at their peril.
my guess would be that very few mac people use chrome, while people who would otherwise be using safari on windows are using chrome instead due to the absolutely horrible first three or four versions apple released. i think it may be somewhat stable now, but those first few releases crashed so often i started wondering if they'd dug up an engineer from Mac OS 8.5 to work on the thing.
The (scientifically abysmal, BTW) miniseries 10.5: Apocalypse ended with that rift cracking wide open, creating an inland sea running straight from South Dakota to the Gulf of Mexico. (This was a step up from the first miniseries, 10.5, which merely turned a chunk of southern California into an island. I suppose a followup about the breakup of Africa will be coming any season now....)
I've tried trains, they just don't make sense on most trips. Even in what's supposed to be the best train area in America, the "Northeast Corridor", a Delta Shuttle flight booked in advance is still half the price and half the time of a train ride (regular or Acela) from New York to either D.C. or Boston. I'm sure there are specific scenarios like yours where trains are awesome, but even today, planes are usually better.
It would be interesting to see an airline with only business class and first class. How long would it stay in business?
Singapore Airlines is doing pretty well. They don't match your requirements perfectly, but they do fly some business-only flights (e.g. the Newark->Singapore non-stop), and their "economy" service beats most American carriers' business for comfort.
if you're dumb enough to click a url in an email about a bank, you deserve both an idiot tag and bankruptcy. if you think the email might possibly be legitimate, either type the bank url directly into your browser or call the number on the back of your atm card. really people, how hard is this?
Playing outside is... risky. Traffic is only one of the reasons
more media lies. grow up and learn to think for yourself. unless you're so far into the inner-city that random gunfire is a problem (in which case you couldn't afford a PC anyway), kids are probably safer outdoors than in. remember, the vast majority of abuse is by family members.
Combo-memorization is the antithesis of my ideal gaming experience. To me, the ideal game is one where I never have to think about the control system, only about the content. The Myst games are probably the best example--they'd be wonderful if I could actually spend time solving puzzles, instead of rastering the mouse across the screen, checking for cursor changes, trying to find puzzles.
if you take a look at the pic, it's clearly the Walkman itself--the original Sony model (only the very first one had the dual headphone jacks, afaik--it was supposed to reduce social isolation caused by being plugged in all the time).

It's not at all physically obvious why casette tapes should have "sides". The answer is in the physical property of the media. The speed with which the magnetized tape passes the head determines the strength of a signal. One of the trade offs of the technology is that higher speed and overall tape length. Having two sides to the tape allowed the overall tape length to remain manageable while doubling the capacity of the cartridge.
there used to be home studio equipment which would use a standard metal tape as raw recording tape, running at some speed much slower than normal tape playback. i think some may have used the whole width, and some used it for multi-track in the studio sense--two or four separate instrument tracks.

and if you owe them 100 billion dollars, that's everyone's problem.

apple paid off all their debt (at least in the sense of bonds, iirc) several years back. doesn't seem to have done them any harm

Don't forge player pianos, subject of one of the earliest copyright suits over technology.
Unfortunately, a matter/anti matter reactor is not enough to create an Alcubierre drive.. We still need some Exotic Matter.. And a lot of it..
Actually, there's a modification to the original version that requires only a few milligrams of exotic matter. Of course, that's still infinitely more than we currently know how to make....
P.S.: Props to whoever named the footnote anchors on that page after Star Trek captains.

my world of warcraft account is now more secure, courtesy of the iphone authenticator, than my real bank account. this is pathetic.
Next up: chess is racist, because while you can play either white or black, there is no Native American side.
The Red Queen begs to differ.
I see what you did there!
Whoever finds him, I strongly recommend you say "You are Evan Ratliff and I claim my five grand!"
what happened to the dept tag?

ah, fair enough. (funny sig in context, btw.)
do you remember half-logic buttons? (you had to press "stop" before you could press "rewind".)
