    I didn't look through all the installfest photos, but I didn't see a lot of women there. Okay, so hanging out with a lot of geeks configuring network services isn't most chicks idea of a hot date. But, nevertheless, how many females are involved with the open source crowd, and in the IT industry in general, in Egypt?

    I had an exGF who'd keep ringing my answering machine, listening to my messages, then hanging up.

    She'd do this 4 or 5 times a day. When she was really depressed she'd do it for or five times an hour.

    I can understand how important it is when your loved one is dead, but when you are still alive its fucking freaky.

    Just being nitpicky (and that this just so happens to be what I was reading on the weekend):

    DSL doesn't run over fiber. The frequencies above 4kHz that carry the data don't survive the copper-fiber-copper conversions.

    They'd need to install a DSLAM in your community, then connect the voice part in to the via fiber CO. I don't know whether the telcos actually do this, or even if there is some reason why its not feasible to site the DSLAM out off the CO.

    Of course, you may have been referring to running a completely different protocol over the fiber, but I haven't read that chapter yet :)
