I'm really hoping that AMD will turn over some of the profits they're raking in from AMD-64 into developing their own chipsets so they won't have to rely on third parties. It's also curious to see Nvidia expanding the Nforce platform to Intel-world, it seems stupid to pony up the extra dough for a Pentium and then not get the reliable chipset to match. Myself, I'm an AMD/VIA loyalist at the moment but have heard only bad things about the Nforce and good about the Intel/Intel combo. They seem to be sustained by the BX-440 board that's powering my firewall.
Nope, you're still going to have to purchase the boxed product. On the upshot, if you have the open beta client you can just create a new account with your CD key and then login with it instead of having to reinstall from the discs.
Intel and AMD have very solid IP-sharing contracts in place anyway. I wouldn't be suprised if the guys at Intel got to see the prototype docs for Hammer back in '99.
I think it's really more the yellow journalism that blows those all of those risks totally out of proportion and perpetuates the culture of fear that's lead to America having the higest per-capita rate of imprisonment in the world. (mumbles something about the black people and locks the door)
I've been wanting to do something like this for a while but it's hell finding those tiny LCDs in a retail channel. Does anyone know where he's getting his from?
Yeah, the open beta client will work for the released game providing you create an account with the cd-key you bought in the store. The real question is going to be wether or not Blizzard filters ISPs by netblock.
Ever since the monopoly case ended in force breakup, they no longer have death-star like power over people's communications and are changing their corporate face to keep up with the times.
I WEEP for the sad state of economics education in our schools today that this idiot pipe-dream of "oh, drugs are expensive, let's just buy them from canada". The reason for the price difference is twofold:
1: Drug companies charge higher prices in the united states because the US has one of the highest per capita incomes in the world and can afford to pay more. It's sort of like the left's "Tax the rich" scheme.
2: The Canadian government subsidizes prescription drugs
So, once 'reimportation' of canadian drugs reaches a critical mass, there are two parties that are going to do everything in their power to stop it: the manufacturers, who's profits are threatened, and Canada, who will be watching their tax dollars flow south to the richest country in the world. At that point, 3 things will happen:
Drug companies charge canada the same rates as the US
Canada either bans foreigners from buying drugs or requires them to be charged full price
The entire retarded scheme falls apart. Hooray.
The best part is, EVERY TIME I've ever gone to a Bi-Lo store and told them I didn't have a card, they'd just key in the override code (444400000000) and I get all the "discounts" anyway.
uhm... I thought it was THAC0?
How d'ye do sir?
Three Hams will fill him,
Three Hams will thrill him,
Why don't you feed him...
THREE HAMS!
The official story is that "they all moved away".

Everything Gene Ray of Timecube.com fame says about formal education is true in the case of Art Schooling.
47.5 Terahertz. Good luck to you, but I"ve got dibs on Green. All those plants are gonna pay through the nose to me, oh yeah.
I'm sure vivendi and blizzard noticed that too, which would be why they cut production so sharply. Somebody had to pay for all those unsold units.
I prefer to write allegorical three-volume epics and invent several alphabets and languages in the process.

No, plague, famine, and war are the solution to the overpopulation problem. Most likely in that order.

Why Senator Rangel! I had no idea such distinguished types posted on /.
Bigger or smaller? there aren't that many places around here with 10 stores
Columbia SC. How's that publix that opened in the old printing press working out? I've been out of town for a while.
Ahhh, good old radio shack. Pizza Hut always asks what highway is closest to my home. I tell them I-5 (live in SC)
