AJAX? Really? Didn't we go through this once already with the iPhone?
Why don't we try asking ourselves this: Why are cell phone companies (handset manufacturers AND carriers) so terrified of putting real, honest-to-God *NIX-powered cell phones in the hands of consumers?
That said, I would rather be SSHing from a real terminal on my phone (like I do on my jailbroken iPhone) than a self-contained application. It's absolutely a control thing for me.
I always thought Verizon was the goddamned devil. Apparently both the Fucking Devil and the Goddamned Devil use CDMA.
Specifically, Verizon loves to disable features of phones such that things that would otherwise be free cost money because you have to go through their network in order to do them. It is a core facet of their business model.
..If you voted for Comrade Obama, check back with me in a couple years.. I'm betting you won't like him then...
Wanna put money on that bet, chief?
Also, fuck you, you lost. Enjoy your national health care, better education system, sane foreign policy, lack of theocratic control of government, and people with actual intelligence operating the country. Too bad, so sad.
I also think running Windows on a Mac is just ignorant, and throwing away even more money.
The point of running Windows on a Mac is so that you can have one machine that does everything, including playing games (or running $WINDOWS_ONLY_APP). It means that the same machine that you get all your work done on can be used for leisure time. This is enormously convenient. How is it "ignorant" or "throwing away money?"
I've been very satisfied with the experience of using my Macbook Pro to play games. Just because it's not as good as a Sager SLI machine doesn't mean it's not enjoyable.
They play the mindless action stuff because they know that's what'll sell tickets. It still seems to me from what I know of it that there will be plenty of substance. Don't try to pretend that Trek doesn't pepper its substance liberally with action.
It did with the iPhone. False hype led to the jailbreaking effort and eventually got Apple to do something they originally didn't want to do: "Mere mortals" developing native ABI applications for the iPhone. It turned the iPhone into a developer platform instead of a toy.
The whole POINT of Macs has been, in part, to enable Average Joe to do digital content creation. To let ordinary people do extraordinary things, with pictures, video, music, etc. Now you take the best-selling Mac ever and remove its ability to import video?

and "The Transparent Society," a book about the inevitability of surveillance and watching the watchers.
that ram from apple is far better than that crap you get from the bottom price rung on newegg.com ... please tell me you don't really believe this.
Please tell me you don't actually believe that Apple's RAM is anything other than thoroughly mediocre.
How is Samba a drop-in replacement for AD? Does it have the same system of hierarchical groups and policies?
Thanks.

Give it time, and eventually someone will come out with a full MAPI client for Android. Nothing prevents it.
The whole system is going to be fantastic. It's just going to take some time.
... why?
Of course I don't expect T-Mobile to support it. I DO expect Google to have some information available to help me try to recover the damage.
I don't see how they can do it, honestly. How do you sell a device like this with no contract subsidy for $900?
Software locks in the form of chroot jails and forbidding root on your own device, such as those that Android phones and the iPhone line have.
If this obstruction is removed, my (jailbroken) iPhone will be on eBay faster than you can say "screw you, Steve Jobs."
That way I hedge it. :p

If Sirius goes under I am going to be one seriously sad panda. Radio in my part of the country is fucking dire.
I find it hard to believe people don't think it's worth $13/mo, honestly.
It's about the writing and design that went into the game.
If only we could somehow wrest control of the Star Control marque away from Accolade and give it back to Fred Ford and Paul Reiche III.

This game was published in 1992 and it EASILY is still one of the best PC games of all time.

The third and fourth seasons were both good. Especially the latter part of the third.
As it is, Android is just as much of a walled garden as official iPhone development is.
There is no access to the device outside of the Java sandboxes.
Because false hype makes the product better.

Am I the only one whose eyes easily focus past this glare?
My glossy MBP is fine in this dept.
How the hell does this make any sense?

What the hell are they thinking?
we are looking, within a few generations at the ability to edit our own DNA. We will start selecting ourselves.
* Headset port
No way would I do OS X on a machine like this if that was a restriction.
So I don't know what you're talking about.
The Acer Aspire One is more powerful than a 3 year old laptop for the same price, has usable IO and is very durable.
