Yes, I agree. I buy better faster hardware so that I may run code faster. NOT so I can run more bloated code. One of the reasons I was attracted to Linux [in the first place] was that I was tired of m$ doing thi svery thing!
Try FLTK. It codes fast, it loads fast, it runs fast, and it has a very small footprint.
Battery life and dependability are the two most important "features" in such a box. So I think I'll be sticking to my 3 year old sony MD. It's taken a shitload of abuse, and runs forever on 1 AAA.
Must be nice to live in your world. In my world officers demand ID on a whim. And they get it because they can always find a reason to arrest someone. This changes nothing.
Unless you have the money to make a stand in court, you have NO RIGHTS.
I know it's bad form to reply to muy own post, but yes I was refering to the cpu utilization bug.
This is a problem when mozilla is compiled with gtk2. If compiled with gtk the bug disapears.
soybean is not a high oil yield crop. However, there are many crops, from iol type sunflower to Honge trees that are capable of producing 200+ gal of oil per acre. It should also be noted that ethanol from non edible crops like swithgrass, etc is on the horizon. Switchgrass can easily yield 10 ton/acre. At 80 gal/ton this translates to 800 gal per acre. BIOFUELS ARE THE FUTURE. They were here before petro, and they will be here after petro.
Let's not forget that postwar Japan rebooted their manufacturing base by making 'junk'. That is, they made [low end] injection mold trinkets, cheap die cast parts, etc. Last I heard, they were making electronics, cars, stuff like that...
I had an Organic Chemistry prof who felt very strongly that the textbook thing was a complete scam. He would 'skip' editions. That is, he would use edition 3 until edition 5 came out. However, he said that you couldn't get too far behind, or you couldn't get books. Point is, it's not entirely the prof's fault. I think this might slowly catch on.
I've been riding for 12 years now, and I have to admit that any chick who REALLY rides is kinda hot. Most women like the IDEA of a motorcycle. The reallity is less comfortable, noisier, and more if a hassle than they're willing to endure for very long. And (not wanting to seem sexist) most guys are esentially posers. Kudos to this young woman for having the heart to tour, and the intellect to choose someplace interesting to tour.
If this worked, then you could rig a piston in tube configuration which would provide 'free power'. The piston would of a variable displacement type, where energy used in compression would be recovered during expansion. This might work if the pressure at the top, and bottom of the tube were equal, which they most certainly are NOT. The energy consumed in expanding/contracting the piston is gauranteed to be more than the energy gained via boyancy. This question is not even interesting enough to warrant doing the math... next.
My first year of college, the room I was renting didn't have a kitchen, microwave, etc. As a result, I often walked across campus to use the UC's microwave. Often this happened after dark, and I was getting my ID run by UPD 2-3 times a month. This didn't seem like that big a deal at first, but by the end of the semester it had gotten to be a very time conuming hassle. I'm an average, mostly law abiding citizen, and i don't think I should have to put up with this sort of thing. I think that if more people would have had a similiar experience, they would take civil rights more seriouly. Unfortunately, most people assume that an officer wouldn't be asking for ID in the first place if the perp wasn't guilty of something...
Perhaps you could explain to me why we are using a grain crop (corn) to produce sugar for ethanol instead of sugarcane, the crop we grow to make sugar?
NASA has one of the hottest FEA apps in existance. It would be nice if they would open source it instead of charging us $2000-$10000 per anum. After all, We the People paid for it, and we'd like to take delivery now.
You guy seriously need to... nevermind. I honestly don't think she's asking for sex advise from us. She can probably handle that on her own. I think the question is what geek toys whould she buy him. If she's been paying attention, she would know which golden screw (no pun intended) he wants.
I would be careful about encouraging the geek thing though... One of the most important lessons any geek learns is when NOT to be a geek.

You haven't been to the United States have you... Come visit us! Bring some CD's...
I thought the whole point [of MRAM] was reducing power consumption. Am I mising something?

Has the acroread bug been fixed, or is that just a Gentoo thing? Anyone know?
I am also in possesion of a rocket which has been neglected for far too long. Where do I sign up to have it 'scrubed and blown'?

'Every try eating raw, unground grain? Bleah.' When i was a kid, I loved eating grain sorgum right out of the bin.
I have an entire hard drive full of "handheld friendly" movies AND still pictures, and it's nobody's business how I use them!

90% of the population dosen't LIVE in fron of a computer. 90% of the population LIVES in front of a television (at least when they're home).
Fsck Java, python was BORN free!

Try using synergy. The newer versions are now secure, runs on both unux and winblows, and is MUCH easier than a KVM.
Where are a bunch of geeks supposed to aquire beaver in the first place?
yeah, I know. Debian is great and all, but long live Gentoo.
