  1. yes to rotation sensors / bluetooth / usb / on Lego Mindstorms NXT Robotics Announced · · Score: 1

Let me tell you, I am buying this the minute it comes out. It looks like Lego really went to bat on the NXT, because they've address all of the problems I had with the original kits and then some. The addition of Bluetooth communication is going to revolutionize this kit as a teaching tool for robotics students, allowing for easy communication between robots for some incredible "Social robotics" experiments. And the price is unbelievable too! Most bluetooth kits are $100 alone. Bravo, lego!

  2. Re:Torrent distribution on Azureus Decentralizes Bittorrent · · Score: 1

Are you kidding me? Have you ever tried programming GUIs or, god have mercy on our souls, an internet application in C?!

Java is perfectly suited for applications like Azureus. It's ability to work and look similiar across multiple platforms (meaning less time spent programming multiple versions) means the developers can spend more time working on what really matters: a good BT client.

So what if the GUI stalls a smidge, it actually does what it's supposed to do, and took a hell of a lot less time to develop than if it had been in a different language.

  5. re: valve on Steam Users Steamed · · Score: 1

I have to say that when Steam does work it's a great system. I can't tell you how long ago I lost my original Half-Life CD or how many times I've reformatted my winblowz box, and yet it doesn't matter. As long as I have an internet connection and my steam id I'm good to go, on any computer anywhere. This has made prepping for the occasional LAN party easy and quick.... just my two cents.

  7. media center on Apple Releases Mac Mini · · Score: 1

I don't know if they intentionally did this, but apple seems to have missed a major opportunity here. If they had thrown s video on there and created some kind of media center software, people would be scooping these things up like hot cakes. 500 bucks for a Media Center computer that has the smallest footprint / energy requirements / noise output and looks great? Oh, well... perhaps Mr. Jobs has a plan for us all.
