My biggest complaint with my female co-workers has been a total unwillingness to put in any overtime, work on any extra projects, etc. The usual excuse always has something to do with their kids - picking them up, taking them to practice, etc. Seriously, is it going to kill your husband if he has to be the one to take Suzie to band practice one night out of how many months? Since they don't really carry their share, they are seen as second string contributors by most of my male colleagues. I have to admit that in many ways I seem them in the same light.

And it hasn't occured to you that this shows you how most men are? I've dealt with female coworkers too who had that problem -- their husbands didn't want to do shit they didn't absolutely have to, foisting everything on their wives. The difference is, being female myself, I was able to get close enough to know that they were usually telling the truth. And the sad fact is, if your husband is like that, about the only solution is divorce. And then she doesn't have time for anything else either becuse she's a single mom. You obviously don't have kids yourself, or don't help out much with them if you do, since you've made it blindingly clear that you don't know what it's like.

Frankly, a lot of the women I work with really make me angry because they give the rest of us a bad name. They want all the gravy, but they don't want to pay the dues to get it.

Riiiiight. You're having problems with women at work -- not just one woman -- and it's all their fault. Frankly, I think that's a bit suspicious. Maybe if you didn't expect them to just say "piss off" to their children to do what you want they wouldn't think you're a jerk. Men in your department never take off for family problems? What's your attitude towards them when that happens? Have you considered the idea that they're doing to their wives exactly what the women who work with you say their husbands are doing to them, putting everything on them? But it's okay for your male coworkers to put everything on their wives, but it's not okay for your female coworkers to have everything put on them by their husbands? Nice double standard there.

I'm not sure that's a good comparison. White Wolf does use a class system, or more accurately, a race system. If you want to play a game with vampires and a demon, you need to buy the Vampire and Demon games. That's like having to buy a book in addition tot he basic books just to play a dwarf. Compare that to D&D, where all the classes and races are in one game (not counting optional add-on/ variant classes in supplements like the swashbuckler). Really, a pure skill system reminds me far more of GURPS. In GURPS everyone had access to the same skills and advantages; there were no classes at all. Problem is, GURPS did achieve a repsectable measure of popularity, but compare that to (A)D&D.

People like you always ignore that fact, don't you? If no one could pirate software, how much do you think your sales would increase? 10% That's pretty generous, actually. How much might your sales drop if no one could pirate your software? If you think they'd only go up you'd be in for a big surprise. Chances are many people would never have eve heard of your software if it weren't pirated. Where would Photoshop be if no one had ever pirate dit? How come it's so bad for people to pirate software but it's okay for software companies to screw over people left and right? It's one of the great failings of our internet world that we still can't create a viable alternative to the major labels. If you think of all the technology and interconnectivity we've got going, the frictionless transfer of art and the (relatively) easy means of payment... how are we NOT outselling any of those companies?

Because no one has gotten together to do this. Sure, there are a few sites out there for indie bands, but there are far more groups that record for the RIAA than there are independents. Because of that the indie music sites aren't getting enough revenue. Lastly, some of the indies are sellouts waiting for the chance to sell out; I've been to indie music sites before where certain artists had only a sampler song for you to listen to, nothing to buy or download. If a site were to get a lot of real indie artists together, persuade some of the RIAA-artists coming out of contract to publish on their site instead of singing another contract and, above all, get enough ad revenue to push the site, it could become something comparable to iTunes.
