I totally read that as "Who Will Buy Google Next?". I was like: "whoa...who bought Google?!?!?". Then I thought: "wait...whaaa? next?!?!?". It finish off with a little: "eh? oh...wow...I'm stupid...".
Thus I proved the real three stages of denial:
1) What? How could they do that?
2) What? I jsut don't understand!
3) Oh, wait, nevermind, I'm just a dumbass.
And to complete this mod discussion (well...maybe, unless I find something else), instructions on how to mod the USB version: http://www.mavin.com/cuecat/index.html. Enjoy!
A quick eBay search (hey, I figured they might make a good scanner to keep track of my CDs, so what the heck) found a strange assortment of results. The first being, that out of 42 results, all but one or two were not "modified to output text without software". What the heck did they do to the actual device to make it always output raw text? The second being the fact that one of the CueCats is a USB model. Did they actually make a few USB ones or is this yet another mod?
Yes, but, if they finally do have access to this great money making market, and most of them still only sell 5,000 copies, perhaps that sheds some light on the quality of the games. That's not to say a small-time developer can't make a great game, I've seen plenty, but that also doesn't mean every small-time developer CAN make a great game. So in the end, the consumer doesn't truely win. Only the game developer and Nintendo.
Yeah...I've seen their machine. It's pretty freakin' sweet. I do love the Linksys equipment glued (or something) to the top. At least they have good taste in technology:P
Actually, yes, LCDs are very expensive, but there lies the problem. Most people aren't willing to pay for this expensive technology and end up with something subpar. My LCD is three years old, but never blurs, has a super-quick refresh (it's amazing for gaming), and not a single dead pixel in sight. And why's that? It's because it cost $800, that's why. Good LCDs are not cheap. (Oh, and Dell makes great LCDs. Surprising eh?)
However, I must agree with you, why buy a fancy dual setup when it's cheaper just to get one screen which works well? Do one thing, and do it well.

29 huh? Doesn't that seem a little low for good experimental results? I mean, 13 to 6 isin't really that signifigant of a number in the long run. I'll wait to judge until this study is repeated.

Wow, I definately submitted this to Slashdot about a year ago. Ah well...thus is life.
Anywho, a (long) while back I created an improved (aka: all bugs fixed) version of the archive, with a few complete versions of the site. Check it out here: backrub.tjtech.org. It even has an archive of the original BackRub page! Classic!
I think the real issue here is more in graphics. If you release an image as a PNG which you had originally created in Photoshop, and used a GPL'd font, wouldn't you have to release the "source" (the original PSD) of said image? Isin't this a horrible, horrible thing for professional graphic designers (if it holds to be true)? Of course, I have probably arrived a little late in the discussion for this comment to really matter, but can anyone else comment on this?
How hard do you PUSH those things? The old 2x SCSI CD Caddy drive in my computer from 1994 still works fine. All the media it comes with still works great too. All I can guess is maybe you live in a high humidty or extremely dusty/dirty house. My house is fairly clean, and I have never had optical drive problems. Don't just clean them out when they break, constantly clean them (if it is the dust/dirt problem) with air. Otherwise I can just suggest you be a little nicer to them and maybe they will be a little nicer to you.
TJHSST has a full lab of both Linux computers (Debian!) as well as another, much smaller, lab with Solaris thin clients. We plan to move to Linux thin clients, as they offer both increased customizability as well as speed.
Stick with Tucows (formerly OpenSRS) resellers. I had trouble with one once, so I just contacted Tucows (and unlike this registrar, which had already moved to eNom, they still did buisness with Tucows). They bitched a little to the registrar and my problem was quickly fixed.
"This has been a subversion of the research purposes for which Internet2 was developed."
That kinda cracks me up. Wasn't the INTERNET created for military and research purposes? I guess we've already subverted that. Come on RIAA, you can sue, but at least know what you are talking about. Internet2 was created to replace the Internet. For now it's mostly about testing the technologies though, but the same goes from the Internet. It diversified. Oh well. Cool beans if you ask me.
Hmm...lets ponder for a moment here. YOU HAVEN'T SEEN THE MOVIE, WHAT DO YOU KNOW?
Jesus, really now, the crazy fanboys can talk all they want. I'll decide wether I think it's good AFTER I SEE it, and I think everyone else should too.
Fly The Copter anyone? It surely is a classic example of a one button game.
Hey, if they're dropping prices, I'm dropped Benjamins.

Okay, so forget all the complex software listed in the article links. Just hardware mod it! Instructions here: http://www.zapwizard.com/MediaPC/CueCat/Index.html .
Oh, and it seems they made lots of USB CueCats. Strange how people don't seem to talk about those. At least half of them on eBay are USB.

It's a Samsung. And it is in a few brands. But trust me, it's not in any of those shitty brands.

Anyone have a download link? I'm getting 404's here.
How can they link to material that hasn't been mirrored yet?
I think we all have Asperger's...

How would they win? All you have to due is prove what you said was true...

"com.com" is owned by CNet. I don't think they have any link commision programs. No, someone probably just copied from an article and screwed up.
