    Yes, but there weren't any drone killings going on in Kentucky either. They're fictional in every state. Republicans get so close to defying the president on things that matter sometimes, then it's whoops crazy-town instead. We could be having a debate about the merits using military force to attack an ideology, but no, we get "what if the president wants to kill his constituents without warning?"

    I want a rational, non-neoliberal alternative to the democratic party, but we never seem to get there.

    There's no copyright for DNA. Someone could take a skin-swab from you, and clone you, without your permission. If they did, would you feel your rights had been violated?

    It never does, because you're not going to be able to look past the idea of "racist" as an insult, rather than a harmful behavior that you happen to be engaged in.

    Here's the test for you: look at the definition for affirmative action given by your own link, and tell me what right it grants.

    Only approximately. There's an opportunity cost associated with an inferior(from the purchaser's perspective) product and the monopolist(which is not the right word, because Musk isn't TRYING to maintain a monopoly, our language lacks the correct word) is free to engage that entire range above basic economic profit.

    Well, seeing as they're the only real competitor in the electric marketplace, they can price as a monopoly would until their success drives competitors into the same market. That's one of those things in supply and demand that quietly gets glossed over in econ 101 but is really important.

    Because that's forcing the government to invest in private institutions, and also: 401ks suck. They're awful, and only really represent a way to fleece a few more cents out of workers, in a way that leaves them no legal recourse when they blow up(and they blow up every 20 years like clockwork).

    I said if you're ok with the possibility of getting nothing, it's ok. In the case of kick-starter projects, I am because there's an implicit understanding that projects of all sorts can fail, and the kickstarter pricing takes that into account most of the time.

    Actually, the $25 price point on the kickstarter for the game is less than 50% of the standard price, even in the U.S. where games are cheap. I suppose that's partially because literally half the sticker price of a AAA game goes to marketing.

    Gee, I dunno, that doesn't sound like something I'd do. My point is that there's no such thing an economic DISincentive from a customer's perspective, making the waters quite muddied as to why a product fails or doesn't. I know about talking about an economic fantasy land, but it feels wrong that there's no economic equivalent of an equal and opposite reaction to complement to standard action of buying something.
