It's like stealing amusement park tokens and selling them to people before they enter the gate, sure the amusement park can just get more paper coupons and sell them off but now that their patronage has been saturated fewer people will buy once inside the park.

You can hope ... Apple is going to wipe the floor with some of these guys maybe that will be incentive to do something better than par for the course. These guys just have to go where Apple won't, configurable hardware. Maybe open up or work on a spec that will allow for different devices and some method to expose interfaces outside the device. That would give the ground work for removable SSD/HDD/Flash, removable batteries, wireless devices(Cell,WIFI, Bluetooth, etc) and make a killing on replacement parts and upgrades like they do in PC land.

You can predict the mental out come Johnny in either situation and that seems to be where we are falling short. By treating Johnny as a slighted traumatized victim before he himself has had a chance to reconcile the situation is what is getting us into this sheep culture to begin with. The reality is there will always be aggression between children as well as adults but indoctrinating a victim mindset is the worst possible method since it effectively eliminates the potential for the person being attacked to attain a positive state on their own and if that fails then intervene.

All in all neither of you are correct because both of you make predictions based on outcomes that could go either way or neither but recommend or endorse solutions for your one outcome alone.

You must have completely missed the point or maybe I missed something. The people / companies hosting the ISP would not be in any type of market to actually host the entire countries internet via POTS, the idea is though to give a temporary option while all others are gone and waving a big banner saying how nice they are that is the angle. For this many people all to have some sort of communication it would have to be light weight - round robin where cipher text is limited to a certain size per transmission, maybe a couple of packets at a time. Hopefully a method like this would allow at least one person to get a coherent message out over what will likely be an insanely congested network. Having at least a few ISP's per country offering some type of dial up service (maybe even 800 based) would help out as far as redirecting/nulling[sic] is concerned.

Putting some serious thought into this type of scenario today would help even ourselves one day, defiantly worth looking into. On the plus side for the ISPs helping out high usage would indicate possible trouble areas and would put them in position to break news to the media garnering even more publicity.

Plug in the Ethernet, Goto the web admin page (just like every router out there) click wireless set the password and encryption and OK. The router reboots and you're ready to go nothing more or less than any other router. Of course you can get into the guts if you want to but that's beyond the basics and not needed to get everything up and running.

I'm planning on waiting for the quad core ARM proc, HDMI out and at least 2GB RAM. If I'm going to put down some money I want a netbook replacement that I can hook up to an external monitor. Likely most of these monsters will be ready for the back to school rush in September. By then iOS and Android will have gone through a major and a handful of minor upgrades. At least with Android there is a chance I can install Linux apps to use on my external monitor rather than kludge type Android apps. Will see how it goes.
