Well I'm sure you're right. It really is too much research for me - I kind of need the time. I'd like to offer the following comments, however.
- Know any French do you ? For if you split old Roland's family name you get "pique" and "paille" - and you have to be able to guess.... It's a bit like living in Sensa (you know, the suburb of Yuma where you smile when you think of home)
- Into European literature are you ? Look up Roland.
This all to point out that I think your research is misplaced. I personally enjoy Roland's little efforts. I find them informative. I can read them quickly. I find them to be accurate, as far as they go. I'm pretty much sure that I'm not the only/. reader who appreciates them. Don't care if Roland makes a buck off of his efforts. If YOU are against the process that's one thing, but I don't think you should rant in the name of all/. readers. How the heck do you know that Slashdot accepts every one of Roland's submissions ?
like to point out that I'm putting my name on this post. That happy old Roland puts his name on his articles. I did NOT notice a name on your post.
Can think of only one explanation ; you, Roland Piquepaille, and CowboyNeal are in fact one and the same person (and you all live in the well-known suburb of Yuma). As Roland you roll out the article, as anonymous coward you roll out the rant to excite interest in the article and so increase the money you get paid, and as CowboyNeal you put the editorial stamp on both (while try not to cry in your beer). Come on now, own up - my theory explains all.
I, for one, welcome our cheery old straw-strewn overlord, and I say hang in there Roland.
Somebody should mod this up to at least 9 1/2 - then we'd really be motivated to sit 'round and try to work out what it means. Such a "mod up" would mean that at least 2 people understood what was being said. "If 2 can do it, I should be able to, too"
It just arrived here in Grenoble, France. It is routinely available in new buildings and becomes available in older buildings as the connection is put in place. They will never stop the TV licence in any country - you can stop dreaming. Leave "them" to dream about new ways to tax us - they'll never stop doing that either.
Happy Christmas anad a Good New Year to all - even the English.
I survived the Y2K experience - and so did my systems, but I have to ask it. Who is this guy George ? Did it with two sisters myself - called Patience and Prudence, would you beleive ?
Seriously folks..... should we all not calm down just a little.
I really think everybody should get to do what he wants to do - free country and free people etc. But just tell me how you earn your living, please ? Just curious....
Oh Brother ! Well yes, it is possible that you have downloaded 10 million files in "the last few years" - it is not all that long ago that 3 dudes rode out of the east to see a small man child recently born in a stable (just a few years have passed).
But No Internet Explorer has probably not been downloaded a billion times. Look carefully, if you have windows - the only system which supports IE - you also have IE. No option -it's wrapped in the packet (and very very tightly).
The Mozilla milestones are interesting at least because of this - a heavy percentage of the destination machines run Windows. Ergo, the world is saying that they don't want the choice of browser "forced" on them. The world is ready to spend the time to try something else. It is obvious that a percentage of the world will try it and prefer something else. And that is good too - the world is making a choice.
Yes ! It is significant that a large block of internet users are exercising their right to choose. So yes ! We must give publicity to the Mozilla milestones. And yep ! it really is that significant !
Ever read George Orwell, did you ?
Well "Two" if this seems important to you. I use it on Windows XP Pro and I use it on Mandrake Linux 10.1. Frankly though, I don't care how many people actually use Firefox - I do and I'm happy with it.
While I don't have any other windows to try it on, I'd offer the suggestion that, if it hangs the machine for a short period of time, there is probably either a memory size or virtual memory size issue.
I use Firefox because it works for me, and any security issues are quickly dealt with.
For the good of the people - let's give that one a rest or join a church. Stick it to windows - there are so many people out there doing just that.... one more or one less makes no difference at all. Windows users not good enough for OSS developers - who knows, and for that matter who cares. It's a free country so let everybody do his own thing - even Windows (there are different kinds of people out there, you know.... there are even people who are, well.... different).
Let's let OSS developers do their own thing also - if you look closely you'll find that they're doin' it for fun - and maybe a little money. 'Tis my case, chum.
Rant on..... I'm having my idea of fun. When you think about it too, I could be hooked on crack instead.
I'm with you. In fact TV is like smoking - most sensible people have just given it up. We still have a TV. My daughter has stuck her favorite post cards to the screen. Looks OK to me
They are, of course, controlled by a beta version of Longhorn. This is a military project we're talking about : it's obvious that they need the latest and greatest in OS.
No choice to make - you choose AMD for the CHEAP thrill.
I, for one, welcome the grandma in question as our new antivirus overload .... sorry, that should have been overlord.

This would be my guess. Wonder what antivirus they're using ? Clamav for Windows ?
And there you have it.
no you're not.
You use your notebook and you run really fast.

For the good of humanity ? Oh dear, oh dear, oh dear. Sure as shootin' as the Americans say. Surer maybe.
Could perhaps just shoot the s.o.b. - save a lot of trouble.
Try to stay up-to-date. Nazi-monthly has been a daily for more than 40 years
And that's why he does it on his friends' computers.
I'm with you. In fact TV is like smoking - most sensible people have just given it up. We still have a TV. My daughter has stuck her favorite post cards to the screen. Looks OK to me
The one and the same. They're probably right, too. Who wants to pass out the fur-lined tin-foil hats ?
Yep ! Exactly like flats ! Tyres, appartments, and salt.
Me too. Or I also. Oh buoy !
Sorry to be nitpicking, but you mean buoy - I think

Or maybe because of the risk factor. Remeber the old joke about the Turkish tram-driver's jock strap ?
