So basically you are saying the companies who sold the hardware / software are at fault. They fail to provide a safe computing environment for the clueless users that they know they are selling their products too.
The solution is to mount home directories noexec by default. Power users would change this so they can run their scripts. All software installed should be on repositories certified safe by the OS providers. The companies that provide installers will be forced to allow their products to be included in OS's repositories.
Hardware sellers that continue to provide software that doesn't have these two features should be liable for the malware.
Has some holes but most seasons are complete. Season 1 to 18 all say complete, I guessing they are not counting the lost episodes. Looks like most of the torrents have lechers so you should be able to keep a 1 to 1 ratio. If you need an invite let me know, I might even donate a few Gig for a fellow fan of the Doctor.
there are plenty of vendors out there that will preinstall and support linux on your laptop for not quite twice what the equivalent windows laptop will run you.
I am not familiar with prices of new Vista laptops, but there are a lot more options out there. I am dreaming of their dual core, dual processor workstation. Would be nice not to have to build something like that myself to avoid having to get a expensive coaster with it.
When you click the x on the windows skype just disappears. If you have a notification area on your desktop manager, then you will see it there. Other wise to shut of Skype click file/exit instead of x on the window.
That's fascinating, but I use Windows, not Winhoze. Will this affect performance for me?
Interesting I use windows too, X windows using xorg as the server and Gnome as the desktop environment. I'm sure most people here are using some kind of windows on their windowing server. Or do you mean you run Microsoft Windows, if so you have my condolences.
I assume that Adam's age wasn't counted until he was thrown out of the garden and became mortal. While in the garden he was immortal so age didn't matter. If that assumption is wrong then so am I.
In Genesis, it states that Heaven and Earth were created along with everything else in 7 days... from that you have Adam and Eve... from that you can trace appx. each generation, including how long certain people lived. That can be traced to the creation to the flood to the house of David to Jesus... and from there you have well documented 2000 years. Which adds up to about 6000 years.
This is wrong. No one knows how long each day of creation lasted.
No one knows how long Adam and Eve were in the Garden, it could have been 10 years, or even 10 Billion years for all we know.
The genealogies are known to be incomplete, they tend to only list the important people and leave out the others.
It seems a lot of scholars read the Bible without any kind of understanding. Just look at the pictures of Solomon's temple and then read how it was really built. The people that drew them had no understanding of engineering.
Thanks for the info,I didn't know that only 7 was working. Everyone I know that does professional photo editing uses a Mac anyway,so they would never need Linux.
So either install Gimpshop to make The Gimp look like Photoshop, or pay $40, get Crossover office, and install Photoshop the easy way in Linux. Probably the best thing to do is disable a clean install of windows from the internet, set up a FAT32 partition for Windows to Linux transfers, then she can do her Photoshop work in windows and her online work in Ubuntu. I did the same for my daughter, she is 12 and knows that windows is for her games, and Edubuntu is for everything else. Windows is a great operating system as long as it stays unnetworked.
Thanks for the info. It is nice to hear of a company selling a computer without the windows tax. I will keep you in mind next time I can afford to upgrade.
The Term PC is short for IBM PC compatible. So a PC would have to be Intel 386 compatible. PowerPC processors built by IBM are not PC compatible. When Apple moved to Intel processors there systems then became IBM PC compatible. How is that for a contradiction.
Originally the term PC meant Personal Computer, until IBM named there personal computer a PC. Sort of like Microsoft naming their operating system Windows.
Ubuntu makes it easy to use the command line to quickly fix problems or in your case install software, but it is not necessary.
Ubuntu has the easy to use Add/Remove programs, plus the more powerful Synaptic, and the ability to download.deb packages, click on them and install. The command line is not needed for any of these. You do have to give your sudo password, but that is for basic security. OpenSUSE is free, 10.1 has some problems but 10.2 should be great
I started with Ubuntu when Warty Warthog was released. I switched because SUSE was too easy and I wanted to learn. I am now having to decide whether to switch or not again, as Ubuntu causes almost no problems that I need to fix.
What does being a hacker have to do with technophilia, and where does Linux come in??
Very true, I pesonally would never own a PDA, but I am sure you won't find one running UNIX or BSD.
I must be really tired this morning, ignore my previous post.
I'm a geek.
I want a wallet with built in clock, mp3 player, camera, radio and cellphone abilities. (screw iPod! I'm a friggin geek, I have neither OSX nor Windows, I use IRC on a command line and browse in a text browser!)
I want it to store securely my passwords and info if I identify properly.
Identification should be done on several levels:
So what you are trying to say is that you are a http://www.catb.org/~esr/faqs/hacker-howto.htmlHac ker not a geek( I guess I need to turn in my Hacker card, I can't get a tags to work today).
I didn't see any Hacker wallets in the story. Sounds like you want a PDA with a storage section, running Linux of course.
Oh, and the next time someone asks me if they should use Linux and OSS, I'll be sure to tell them they should do that *only* if they are expert in the OSS development model, or are willing to hire experts to set it up and manage it for them - so they won't annoy important people like you. Or conversely they could just plunk down $500 for a PC with Windows pre-loaded and let Microsoft manage it for them.
How is clicking on the updates available notification and then typing in their password, and then clicking the install updates button beyond the normal Microsoft windows users capabilities? Also with 3 clicks they can set it up so security updates are installed silently. In a professional environment it is simple to roll-out updates so the user knows nothing is going on.
Flash player 8 may be standard, but with all sites that don't block Flash player 7 (but say they only work with 8) seem to work perfectly in the Linux release of Flash player 7. Really I am complaining about being blocked.
I see even so called Linux friendly IBM is blocking Linux users out because there is no Flash 8 for Linux yet. Oh well maybe next Wimbledon. Is there a Flash player 8 out for Mac?
Cataracts are a whole different ball game. When they get to the point that you can no longer see through them you have to have your lens surgically removed and an artificial one put in it's place. The draw back is that eye is permanently farsighted.
Now I am nearsighted in one eye and farsighted in the other. They wanted to give me a bifocal in one eye but I said no thanks. I see well with no glasses, and my brain uses the eye that is required for the task. I wear glasses for driving only. Sometime the computer screen bothers me so I wear an eye patch over the surgical eye to get by.
I don't think they will do any corrective surgery once you have had a cataract.
I assume that the nanotubes would be lined up on each plate and spaced so the tubes would mesh together. What they didn't say was what they were going to use as an insulator. A thin insulator is just as important as surface area for the capacitor to have a high storage value.

I see that they offer to install Linux for you.
No idea if they remove the price of Microsoft Windows from the total but it is a start I guess.

China is our enemy
We have forgotten that fact,
but it is still true none the less.

Ummm, Gnome has a built in bittorrent client, so a few Distro's must have it already
For a better slack experience, if you are using a GUI that is, I recommend Dropline Gnome http://www.droplinegnome.net/
You may have to wait to use it on Slackware 11, but if you like Ubuntu you will like it.

I think this is a good idea, but I really wish more people would put subtitles on their flash videos
Do you mean like this?
Sorry I couldn't find a flash version in a hurry.
