    Um... if ISPs allow port 80 then your servers will still get pounded. Locking the other ports will just make everything go over the unlocked ports. Your plan doesn't work at all. Oh and good luck uploading stuff to your server using FTP, or connecting using SSH.

    My Computer doesn't open your files, but shows devices connected to your computer (like hard drives, CD/DVDs, floppies, mp3 players, external/network drives, "My Documents", and Control Panel).

    Fedora Core 4 I know will support Xen. I believe Suse also announced the same thing.

    Unfortunately Xen doesn't yet support graphics (hopefully I'm mistaken).

    With IPv6 worms won't be able to find any systems because each end user is supposed to be allocated an insanely large number of addresses.

    You know with IPv6 people would be allocated more IP addresses than could be scanned in an insane amount of time, right? That would make worms spreading much harder.

    And do you think only people that know how to mess with routers would be transferring pictures or files over IM? I have to give people space on my web site because everyone I know is behind a router and can't send them directly.

    From what I can figure out its only required for people that don't have good karma, and users not logged in.

    Why go through the trouble of writting down dozens of passwords and what they are for? It would be much easier to just dump the password db to a CD-R and throw it in the safe.

    And then your filesystem will be in an inconsistent state and could easily be hosed. Thats the big warning the Software Suspend 2 guys give about suspending (if you access the drive after suspending with any other OS in a writable way, then resume the OS, the OS will think the FS is different than it currently is).

    Drive capacity has nothing to do with the max amount of writes (flash memory generally has a max amount of writes before you can't write any more).

    It will still consume less than a P4 (only 80 watts, and IIRC they are going to quickly go from 90nm to a smaller size, and probably will eventually make a 'mobile' version as well).

    Well what I meant (and completely forgot to write) was that the Power processor is just the very core of the chip, and there will have to be quite a redesign of OS X (again) to run on it.

    Though from what I've seen the Cell should be the end of having to pay $$$ for an extra video card, since it seems that the Cells themselves will be very good at that sort of things (nvidia and ati will be pissed at that)

    Unless IBM or someone else starts celling parts to build Cell based systems this isn't going to happen. Also some big name like IBM will probably have to also do some donating of systems to people like Linus and other prominent Linux & open source figures (like some big names at the apache foundation).

    The Cell's primary processor is a Power5 processor, the G5s only contain a Power4 processor.

    Are they the groups that are actually publishing the work in written form? If so then without them then the works may never be published (possibly, possibly not).

    Re your side not: Its because for the last couple of days slashdot was been flooded by bots posting comments from previous threads. For people that actually browse at 0 or -1 it was annoying. Also AFAIK if you have good karma you don't have to do that (I don't).
