i think its more likely that a dodgy phone battery or something like that could cause a dangerous fire, if you drop a cigarette on your clothes, it takes a while to burn a hole - if you didn't notice it before, youve noticed it now because your now in pain. Unless your wearing one of those 80's shell suits, you'l be fine and so will everybody else (80's shell suits are illegal to sell in the uk now because theyre a fire hazard.
A small fire would be very easy to put out anyway, im sure the trolly dollies are trained to use a fire extinguisher. how many times (when smoking used to be allowed on planes) did people used to set fire to things with cigarettes?
i would pay an extra 10% of the price of my ticket to sit in a smoking area because im scared of flying, it'd help calm me down. (i flew home from spain on 11-sept 2004, i was sure i was going to die, even though there was very little chance)
I can think of the following reasons (disclaimer: im a smoker):
to pander to the 'smoking is bad and should be banned crowd' to pander to the people who claim they can smell it once they find out somebody is smoking (just to be anal) to pander to over the top fire safety rules, i imagine the airline would have to pay more insurance to allow this because of the 'fire hazard'
But people who dont know what NAT is, probably do want NAT - they wouldn't beable to work out a complicated web interface that has stuff like "counterstrike game server" options, instead of real port numbers.
i installed nvclock from portage and as a test clocked my graphics card as high as it would go, no immediate errors so i set it to overclock on startup.
Ive still not found any more crashes than before (i had to try kde 3.4 beta's, which crashed a couple of times). i haven't seen a noticable speed increase but i might as well leave it as it is incase i do come round to using my gpu to its fullest one day.

if the license is open source compatible, that means it can be freely distrobuted for no fee, making it compatible with all the open source licenses i know of and care about.
obviously finding a planet exactly like earth, hiding on the other side of the moon would be quite a likely candidate, but they never consider (at least on the news) the harsh climates that animals on *this* planet can *thrive* in
bootup times are being worked on by many people. they should improve some time in the future hopefully. if you google, there's things you can do to improve boot times for youself.
that scientists think alien life would need water, oxygen and heat to survive. there is life at the bottom of the ocean that survives on sulphur and the heat from vents - there's almost no oxygen down there. Who's to say life on another planet wont be more obscure?
Ive got the compTIA A+, but i only took it because it was free with my college course, i dont expect it to help me get anywhere though (unless im in the situation where there's somebody with the exact qualifications i have except the a+).
Bah, it was free and didn't take too much thinking.

That would be ideal but unfortunately its not going to happen.
it just occured to me that more and more people are buying routers - routers set to NAT firewall by default, which might help in the long run.
or 'provide' a firewall for all users that are running as zombies

The creators of CSS1!
Its obvious - IE doesn't support CSS1 properly, and they dont want to be overtaken by the devs of CSS2

I like the way sshd are setup - you have to manually enable it. It'l make the bastards read the manual at least, and find the config screen.
MAC addresses are not unspoofable.
Hooray for double negatives!
not far off now! if they can make a program run for more than 5 minutes, they've far suppassed windows 98.
are there any licenses which could be called open source which aren't freely distrobutable and open source?
it wouldn't suprise me if microsoft's source code looked more spaghettified perl than typical examples of C or whatever language they do use.

the docs on there are the best docs i have ever seen for an OS - simple, to the point yet detailed.
i use galaxy classic from mandrake-artwork, seems to be the best available window theme for kde at the moment.
afaik, kde replaces strings with native language strings, so color would be default, but with the en_GB language pack, it would be colour.

+2 Funny? this guy's serious.
Obviously the mods have never tried it.
Thats just untrue. KDE 3.2 (with eyecandy turned off) ran as well at windows 98 on my girlfriends pentium-MMX 233 in slackware.
i had a css style sheet that _crashed_ IE6 on XP/XPSP2, i had to hack it to bits to make it work.
just use kompmgr - its kde's fork of xcompmgr, more stable and more features apparently
