They might not want to get shunned by their friends. i didn't read the article, but ive not read any mention in the comments of oracle saying anything themselves.
they were probably pushed (or maybe they want to keep OSS quiet because of mySQL and postgreSQL).
wouldn't a "its not our fault if gmail deletes all your emails, sleeps with your sister or swears infront of your grandmother" kind of disclaimer in their TOS that you have to agree to?
that box that SGI made for NASA ran linux, that had (iirc) 1024 processors, so presumably linux does scale. i dont think they used out of the box distro anyway and the kernel was probably highly patched.
well any usb mass storage device will do. What is cool about it though, is its rewritable media - if the computer your fixing doesn't have a cdr drive and floppies aren't feasable.
you should take an afermative action approach to the wording: a womaned mission.
problem is, some people use woman as a verb in this context: "i bet nasa will woman this up", as oppose to the traditional "i bet nasa will cock this up"
i know its meaningless, but if somebody completely non-technical wants to know how much space something is (like ive got 1gb free, is that a lot). i use 4mb = 1 average length mp3, so that 1gb can hold 250 mp3's.
im using the release candidate, which seems to be fine (except an occasional crash of kopete).
The translucency is great in kde 3.4, the nasty hack for konsole transparancy isn't needed any more.
the transparancy isn't crash free though, im going to hold off using it for a while, dispite its prettyness.
it is impossible to get rid of - the first thing i turn off in kde is the infernal single click interface.

prehaps somebody should show them the xfree/xorg situation and how much that *helped*
i remember when my dad thought you had to double click hyperlinks, which causes problems on some pages with javascript.
in gentoo you can start the install yesterday, finish the install after the 32bit unix time rolls over to january 1st 1970.
in debian you can start the install after the 32bit unix time rolls over to january 1st 1970, and finish the install the same minute.

if the bittorrent protocol would be updated to look like HTTP or FTP or something else, to make it impossible for ISP's to filter it.
i personally think the GPL is the best license currently available (except maybe the apache type licenses because of their patent clauses).
the spirit of the gpl is that the code stays open. if you want people to write code for you to sell, use bsd software.
That was obviously implied.
in gaim encryption is done client>client, the server doesn't get anything readable because the protocol doesn't support it.
nothing, the execs keep it. they cant lose a house which is why they bought them
is it not a pay per click setup? i would have thought that would be the most popular amongst advertisers.

How good is AIX for this kind of job?
i am currently boycotting slashdot - i dont click the ads but i cost them money in bandwidth.
what is this government integrity of which you speak?

i hate affermative action

so its more like a chewbacca offense, used (in this case) out of context?
im not familiar with "the famous EUCD directive" - is it anything like the chewbacca defence?
just make the dhcp logs go misteriously missing if anybody comes asking for them.
kinda like: oops, i accidently wrote alias cp='rm -rvf' before copying the logs.
or download some britney spears mp3's, burn them to CD, snap the cd in half, then kill RIAA execs with the sharp CD.
When tried for murder, just use the 'britney spears made me do it' defense, like people have done with maralyn manson.

isn't the finnish OS developed in portugul?
