i used to use noatun but 2 bugs pissed me off and made me move to juk (i now couldn't live without its playlist's features)
1) kjofol skins transparency was solid purple and the rest of the window was transparent (QT bug apparently) 2) i was the only person who could recreate this (no idea why), but the volume changed drasticaly between songs.
i use hotwayd. if im not at home, it doesn't download the message, so i can read it at college. if im at college and i want to keep it, i mark it as unread and hotwayd will download it for me when i get home
my point it, once something like HTPC is working fine (not dropping frames, botching sound), there is no reason to upgrade it (unless something like blu-ray comes along..)
an extra ghz wont matter on a PC like that, unnless the requirements change (like blu-ray)
the boss doesn't have to be as good as you at what you do, but he should at least understand it.
he should understand how long it takes to do something and about different approaches to something, and other various stuff. you dont want a manager that you have to explain to, like you have to explain to big bosses
Is this the first time for ages that Japan is behind in adopting something (or were they using it in the 80's, and now theyre using something that wont be written until 2010?
Maybe the "year of linux on the desktop" crowd were right this year (they had to be right eventually.
all i do is rip the tracks off the CD and add them to my jukebox (kde's juk). if i want to copy the cd, i just copy the ripped tracks onto a cd, no hassle.
ssh -X you@remotehost k3b
(if you use k3b obviously, and i couldn't be arsed looking up cdrecord's command line switches)
here you go

i personally dont agree with BSD style licenses in they encourage companies like Microsoft (TCP stack) to use their code.
What's the difference between the LGPL and the BSD license?
yep - you wouldn't want any software with a wacky license on your computer, would you.
i take it you use the old LGPL'd kernel, and BSD apps for the rest of your system?
mod me down but im right - whats wrong with these people???
shield the cable (and obviously earth the shield)
that way nothing gets in, nothing gets out - everybody wins (exceept those who pay for the cable)
no - its been proven that using microsoft software shortens the length of your penis (as well as gives you cancer and bad breath)
there's a project to make bttv card work on freebsd and they already work on linux - i watch tv all the time on my linux box.
im not sure about mac tho (i'd think so)
my bttv card is a hauppauge PCI card. The windows app is crap tho (tvtime on linux is nice)
me too:
/// [a/t] // hotmail.com
:@
m/att/y//robinson69
take out the random slashes, spaces and square brackets, and obviously replace a/t with
me too please:
/at/ hot/mail/./com
/'s
ma//tt/y/r/obinson69

home theater pc's dont really need to be fast. they just need to be fast enough to play 5.1 sound decode dvd's and run a tv card
when i first replied, the post was not moderated funny. sometimes i can be humorously impaired, it seems i was this afternoon (uk time)
YEAH!!!

(apparently) hopefully the UK's NHS
where next?
use KDE - that has spell checking integrated too. konqueror (same rendering engine as safari) uses the spell checking feature of kde.
i use opera, which doesn't have spell checking, hence my bad spelling of most of my posts.
X is roman numerals for 10
unless you were trying to be funny - i just assumed 'mods on crack (tm)'
how about 2000 to XP - whats XP in base 10??
man can mean two things:
male adult human
mankind (man or woman)
woman cannot mean two things - it only means female adult human
therefore, anybody who says the title is sexist is a cunt, and anybody who suggests a name such as "the mythical woman month" is also a cunt
i hate political correctness, feminists and those who play the race card (not that the latter has anything to do with this conversation)

i can put tracks on my netmd this way too
why exactly are they asking for trouble?
autoplay isn't automount. it just does what its told do do in %CDROM%\autorun.inf (IIRC)
if it didn't automount, there'd be trouble, but i always disable autorun in windows when i use it
play it, and save it
/dev/dsp0 >> /music/track1.wav
cat
that'll explain why i cant write legibly with a pan or spell anymore. if i'd programmed vb for much longer i might have forgotten how to type...
(no - it has nothing to do with the fact that i now use a computer instead of a pen and rely on spell check too much)
incidently, see my sig (site is no longer maintained tho)
