just because we're talking about something computer related doesn't mean that we're using a definition that refers to software - we're talking about a license, after all. for a more accurate analogue - you put a peace of gpl software in your code [get infected], the entire body of the software has to be gpl'ed. i do use linux [primarily mandrake. i'm mostly a mac boy], but from a strictly theoretical viewpoint, i don't really like for the gpl strongarms everything else [although, as we know, its a choice]. the advantage of bsd is that people aren't forced to conform to your ideology [although this too is an entirely personal matter]. i personally like the license one of the freebsd coders mentions in their bio - the beer license. you can use his code, modify it if you want, open, closed, whatever. but if you like it, and at some point you bump into him, feel free to buy him a beer.
humidity wouldn't be an issue - heat retention would be. a freezer 9or fridge, for that matter0 is designed with minimal airflow and thermal insulation in mind. early attempts at cooling via fridge/freezer failed because they heated up incredibly - the freezer doesn't cool more than the system heats up, and all the heat just hangs around.
most diabetics i know use sharps containers or gallon jugs to hold their used needles before they're properly disposed of. i also make a point of gloves, heavy shirt or hoody, work pants, and boots when diving.
Dumpster diving ( just doing to my local dump and pulling shit from the stack of electronics) i've gotten social security numbers, credit card data, grading data from various area High Schools...
Um... i've done a fair amount of frying, and I don't really see how one would fry with oil diluted with water, or, even if it was, if there would be a problem seperating the two. I, on the other hand, know nothing about the fry oil used in chain resteraunts, so hey, maybe its so.
But i can't run my favorite games under linux... wait... this is my mac we're talking about?
(disclaimer: half my favorite games run on my mac, the other half on my PC. I am, to the degree its possible, a Mac gamer)
Actually, I have nearly a dozen options a day from New York to Boston or Washington DC - the only profitable amtrak line. The rest are kept alive because various esnators want to have amtrak lines in their state - regardless of how much money they suck from the public's pocket.
I'm not saying that the porn industry would necesarily take advantage of this, and get the DOJ to prosecute downloaders. But just image the giant stick they could wave at the DOJ - "lay off your obscenity charges of we'll have you prosecute all these cases." The act is broad, and is simply an excuse to get your shit protected at someone elses expense - which you have to respect the RIAA for. I mean, if i was in their place, my first priority would be to try and get the government to do all my dirty work.
Alright. SO, you know a big part of P2P traffic is porn - porn that is almost without a doubt copyrighted, but most Porn companies don't go out of their way to track down pirates (or at least joe average light downloader). If the porno industry no longer has to expend their own money or effort to crack down on copyright violators, don't you think they'd start? Pornographic copyright violations and investigations could, as i see it, drown out all the RIAA efforts by shear volume.
so you want apple... to design something specifically for you rneeds... because you're too lazy to do it yourself, but too damn picky about 'style' to accept an existing solution?
I've run OS X on a beige g3 (233 mHz) and i can gurantee that it runs better than an emulated PPC running at, oh, lets say hypothetically... 70 mHz (2800 mHz / 40 ). Most problems running OS X i've had have been to a dearth of memory, not lack of proc.
I'd say running 40 times slower than host proc isn't really living up to the hype - my pentium IV 1.4 gHz would still be running slower than my oldest running mac (which can't run OS X, but still), but would still have all the irritating flaws of windows running over it. Why bother?
Hey - you forget Jenna Jameson.;) . and debby harry. and... yeah. I'm glad someone else points this out - for some reason people always forget that Vice City has a consiberably more star studded cast than most blockbusters.
Well, i run as admin, with a password, without auto login, but i make everyone else run as a standard user. I generally do this because i've considered the mac less likely to terribly infect itself (in windows i run myself as a restricted user, only loggin on as Admin to do installs).
but really, everyone should back shit up. this doesn't mean they're getting what they deserve if they lose all their work - its just good forethought. drive failure is a very real problem, even if exploits aren't likely to wipe your system.

not to disagree, but the GPL is viral. this doesn't necesarily mean its bad - it just tends to force others to either love it or despise it.

Heaven forbid that a device can't necesarily do something it wasn't designed to do. lordy lordy, i may catch a vapor.
IIRC, Sun has a permanent System V license, so further SCO licences would be utterly useless. I may, hoever, be wrong.
wheres condescending +1 when you need it?

No. I happen to really like amtrak. But it bleeds money like a cut up hooker.

For what its worth, I'm a long time mac user (currently running 10.3 on a dual 2 g5), and i actually prefer KDE 3.2 to Aqua.

Search of the site? Like google?
Moslty beige g3 and the blues. My g5 takes about 25 minutes. but that was an average.
I've found the OS X installer always lies. on average, i'd say my OS X install time on various machines is around an hour and a half.

Hey man - my gas is cheaper, i never have to leave the car. I'm pretty damn happy about it.
