this reminds me of a joke... scientists around the world were trying to figure out which was the most advanced in the past so, the french dig a deep hole and found some copper string, and claimed that they had invented the telephone 1000 years ago the english dug an even deeper hole and found some glass shards, and claimed that they had invented fiberglass wires 2000 years ago the portuguese dug an absurdly deep hole, and found NOTHING
so they claimed that they invented wireless cellphone 6000 years ago
dear lord, i would love that every CSI-like show to be censored in any country perhaps this way we would get rid of those clients from hell who think that any image can be zoomed and enhanced to HD level
i want to see the day where the doctor give me a pill and i leave the hospital with a new kidney:) https://www.youtube.com/watch?... star trek iv : the voyage home
sao paulo has a similar scheme... but only limits 20% of the cars since i don't own a car myself, i dont know the exact mechanics, but on mondays cars with plates ending with 1 or 2 are forbidden, on tuesdays are the ones with 3 or 4, and so on people with more money bought a second car, as happened in mexico

Programming Languages are tools. And tools serve a purpose and are better doing one task than other tools, even those which could be used to serve that task. I have been coding in PHP for the past 8 years or so. Its really easy to code in PHP, but it has several known flaws which i have to manage to work around. Last year i got a job that required me to code in Perl. Its ugly as a baboon's ass, but its perfect to work with regex and huge text files. Recently i have been coding in Python, and its god damn fast! But there are several quirks in the language that i can't stop hating, specially its "We're all consenting adults here" slogan. I have been looking forward to learn Ruby and Java now, or even to get back to my academic days and code something in C/C++
So, stop being a language fanboy, and know your 'enemy' and learn that they are better suited to do some tasks than your favored language.

yay, more taxes for me to pay as an excuse for the government to justify the media corporations why it fail so bad to fight music piracy... i hope they stop the annoying anti-piracy commercials after that
mod me troll if you want, but as a brazilian i am not that happy about this piece of law which adds more taxes than we already have to pay
weird... we use ethanol over here in Brazil for a long time already, and aside from one crisis on availability of fuel in the past, we never had any problems with our cars. And we blend 25% ethanol into our gas.
living in brazil, these usually are the reasons for piracy. Many games only reach our market several months after the game was released, and with a price most gamers can't afford to pay (prices like a quarter the average salary interns earn).
Personally, i have been avoiding piracy the most, yet distribution still forces me to go pirate. Recently i tried to purchase Civilization Chronicles directly from the US (since no store sells it in brazil), and no US company would deliver it to my country. So, my options are very limited, and priacy is the only one that looks reasonable.
is this for real ? i use gmail since it was released to the public in that april fools day, and the past two months have been the ones with the least spam i ever had in my entire life... last time i trashed my spam box was last friday (July 11th), and since then i only got less than 40 spam messages... this is way less than the amount of valid emails i got in the same time frame.

At first, ethanol in Brazilian fuel is nothing more than a subside for northeastern Brazilian farmers
A picture is worth a thousand words.

Weren't the Soviets the first ones into Berlin?
yes they were, but that only happened in the end of WW2 (in the european front atleast), AFTER the US joined the war.
the point was that, without support from the US, the world would look a lot different.

its atrocious to go there now, but geocities was THE Thing back in the '90s. Learned a lot with it, learned a lot from it. So long, and thank you...
