My friend bought a Motorola phone which came with a "free" USB cable from ebay. Connecting the phone to his PC didn't work at all. After a certain amount of fooling around, he found the cable did not have any wires in it. It had connectors, but the cable was just made of insulation. My explanation? It was a wireless cable.
that Stubhub is owned by Ticketmaster? I can't believe this. The last two times I tried to get into concerts at the Rochester Auditorium Theater and the War Memorial (Blue Cross Arena), it was difficult. Somehow all the good seats vanished almost immediately. But no, there are seats that magically appear on Stubhub. All you have to do is pay $300 for a $75 seat. Infuriated, I refused (obviously, I've been out of the loop for a while). So for one concert I bought tickets from someone on eBay (double the face value!) and for the other I just got cheap tickets in a poor location. Apparently this kind of poor service has no effect since the venues are sold out anyway. This makes me not want to go to events like this and just buy the DVD! Maybe you have to be a teenager to put up with this BS. I still have the antiquated belief that ticket resellers should not make more money than the artists or promoters. You don't see Wallstreet brokers doing this. Oh, wait...
I was being facetious! I am actually a big Obama fan. I figured if he gets blamed for the underwear bomber, he ought to get blamed for poor health care and maybe the weather...
And why is it possible to plug in a USB connection upside down so the +5V gets shorted out? USB: you still have to look inside the connector to see which way it's pointed. Good luck when it's on the back of your case.
Its possible that the auto transmission computer will resist going into neutral because if you do this when you are exceeding the max allowed towing speed, the trans will be destroyed. I got my wife's Prius to go into neutral at 20mph, but I'm not sure what would happen at 70. All my cars are manual transmission and I like it that way. One thing that is clear is that people generally do not know how to shut off the engine in a car with push-button start (like the Prius) when it is moving. When stopped, you just poke the start button, but when moving you have to hold the button for 3 sec. This makes sense since you don't want to accidentally turn off the motor while you are moving due to a mistaken poke. However, in an emergency it will seem that the engine won't turn off. Its in the owners manual, but nobody reads it (even me).
BMW has had drive by wire throttles in production since 1988 750iL V12. Slowly migrated down to cheaper models over the years. Not much in the way of serious problems. Stepper motors running the throttle can fail, but this is more of an annoying expense than a safety disaster. My MINI Cooper has drive by wire and works fine. Makes it easy to implement cruise control and traction control. Throttle control is by dual redundant pots that "vote" on throttle opening. If something acts screwy, it goes into limp-home mode. The only throttle control problems I've had were with cars with mechanical linkage that got bound up from rust/old age.
My brother had problems with blood clots in his legs while traveling and had to have treatment in Singapore. Beautiful hospital with great nurses and state of the art equipment. Cheap too! How did we get into this mess? Another Obama screw-up like the underwear bomber.
There is nothing wrong with health care in the USA. Every day you are getting better and better. Insurance companies will take care of you. The government can't do anything right, so don't let them mess with health care. The health care that politicians have is not really what you want. That lump on your face is really attractive and does not need a biopsy...
When I worked at a large photographic company in Rochester, NY, ActiveX was blocked due to security concerns. That meant that if you went to the public company web site from a machine inside the company, it wouldn't work. Doh!
We had own own special copy of Explorer modded for us (security settings were locked). However, the enterprising employee could download and run Firefox etc. with no problem. Every piece of software had to be approved and certified by IT and you had to buy from company approved vendors (not the cheapest place). I'm sure they had their reasons, but I never could fathom it. Like my friend at work used to say, "People much smarter than us have this all figured out."
There is a folder sitting on my desktop called Adobe Reader 9 Installer (>100meg). Can I get rid of this? I don't know what is going on with Adobe. The pdf reader used to be a lean secure program and now it's turned into some huge hideous beast that tries to sing and dance. Sigh.
Chris Parks, a designer at Eastman Kodak's Image Sensor Solutions, invented the term "marketing physics" to describe ridiculous claims and other violations of physical laws and common sense made by marketing types. The pico-projector name falls in this category.
I have to agree completely. I will not buy any Sony products. Buying a Sony laptop full of crapware for my wife many years ago cured me permanently. It said you have to use a Sony CD drive ($300!) to boot the recovery disk (not true!). I bought a Sony mouse ($80!) and it claimed that it would only work on Sony laptops (not true!) and only in WIN98 (also not true!). Lies, all lies!
Fine, then I'm going to blame Bush for 9/11. Happened when he was president so must be his fault.
The Abyss is famous for its animation of the water tentacle. Way ahead of its time. Younger readers who have not seen it should check it out.
You realize that saying, "Please don't block our ads or people will be out of work." is a Think of the Children argument. "Please buy our heroin or our poor farmers will starve." "Please buy our 1975 Trabant or the Fatherland will surely perish!" See 50 Worst Cars of All Time: http://www.time.com/time/specials/2007/article/0,28804,1658545_1658533_1658030,00.html. According to this article: http://mashable.com/2007/04/19/ticketmaster-sues-ebay/ , eBay owns StubHub and was sued by Ticketmaster. Now I'm really confused.

As opposed to real poo.

Republican agenda is to get Obama out of office even if it means wasting the 4 years he is in power. See this about health care: http://www.thedailyshow.com/watch/thu-february-11-2010/the-apparent-trap

Suicide knobs are illegal in NY AFAIK.
Someone read the entire Homeopathic Pharmacopoeia into the Congressional Record thus making it "approved" by the government. Right!
This is really good news!
