No joke, that was seriously tedious and took me hours to get right (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QSn6s3DPTSg). The real point of the video was to show that we made a cheap eye tracker ($25) add-on for Glass along with a better pupil detection algorithm than was previously available (https://github.com/wearscript/wearscript-eyetracking). We're working with accessibility labs to use it as an input device for users who can't use the touchpad on Glass. The goal is to make it widely available for people to hack on so that everyone benefits as opposed to $10k proprietary systems that have bad support for modern software/devices. Adding in Mario was just an easy point of reference, everyone knows the relative complexity of that as opposed to a synthetic test.
Brandyn here, it can be annoying but in this instance MIT sponsored the event (it was at the Media Lab) so it's an easy mistake. No harm, anyone who looks into it knows that I'm at Maryland.
I didn't know soldering some electronics together and porting a language to a platform is Ph.D. level work.
Agreed. This is my research http://scholar.google.com/cita... . WearScript is a tool that helps us in our current research (which is an extension of this https://www.youtube.com/watch?... ). When you do research you can either use tools that already exist or you can take a detour and invest in making better tools so you can do more effective research, that's what this is.
I took a bunch of pictures at WWDC and made a panorama of the Moscone center http://msca.me/1J . Click around it's pretty neat. I think brian lam from gizmodo might be in there on the right. The WWDC'09 has been great so far, but what is up with the matte case that was floating around previously, was that a hoax or what? I could have sworn it was for the $100 one (which ran out in all the stores I've checked).
There isn't really a "suite" that I know of like SANDRA;however, using your system logger (sysklogd, metalog etc) you can get a real good view of what is going on with your system. You may want to enable some debugging settings in kconfig and recompile the kernel so you get more info in the log. If you have any programming experience you can try profiling the kernel and any problems you can attempt to correct or post to the LKML.
But really it sounds to me like your in need of a distro change. Try debian or gentoo.
I've been using linux for 4 years on every computer in my house, I use it for games, multimedia, programming, documents (college student), and everything you use windows for. Plus I get a nifty package manager to simplify installtions, so if anything, I'd say that Linux is easier to use than Windows, its free (in both ways), and the only reason Windows is keeping Linux at bay is because of fragmentation between distros, they have a huge user base that is scared of change, and they have all of the game makers in their pocket (less I.D., they are great)
So competition? It isn't a competition, Windows is a hack, linux/bsd/hurd(eventually) is a real OS.
Your vivid discription literally brought a grown man to tears, I hope your happy! But I totally agree with you, they get paid to debate the issues and keep the fire burning. And what are we really learning from space? If this comes from taxpayer dollars, I'd at least like to get a CD rom with some cool pictures or something, jesus!
If you don't want to bother, just grab Fedora/Mandrake/Ubuntu and stop knocking my distro. You weren't meant for Gentoo. Deal with it.
I've used gentoo for about 2 years and you are the exact reason why people don't like gentoo. Its an elitist atitude that seems to spread like the FUD of custom flags. I thing gentoo is the greatest distribution for real reasons. It has a fantastic knowledgable userbase (which may be a product of its difficulty factor), it makes administration relatively easy (etc-update anyone?), it forces you to choose what you want as opposed to the "well I guess I need cpufreqd on my desktop", and it is extremely easy to stay up to date (I know about apt-get and yum and frankly they all need work).
So please, anyone that wants to support gentoo through FUD do it somewhere else.
Going to college isn't to make you smarter, or more educated, it is to tell a future employer that you can put up with a bunch of BS for at least 4 years.
So your saying the B.S. in Computer Science means something different than I first thought? : P
Could I sell my binaries for X dollars, sell my source for Y dollars (under the GPL of course), then when I make a new version, sell an "upgrade" for people with current licensed versions of the source for Z dollars? The reason I'm asking is this would allow the upstream provider of the code to recieve a constant cash flow to aid in development, while still allowing for a community and people to have their freedoms.
Actualy you may have something here...
Lets say you want to back up your precious config files in your/etc/ directory, just take a real porn picture and use a stenography program to hide your config file in it. Hell, if its a real good picture, you can probly get away with it bieng a couple megs. Just share them on your favorite file sharing service, if they support chat hype them up. I wouldn't use this as even a backup to your real backup, but if all hell breaks loose, you know where to go : )

I've been using 2.6 for quite a while now (maybe 2.6.3) and for the most part I've liked it. I've had maybe on oops ever and its stable and fast.

And who's trolling now parent?
I'll second that *ducks*
I read that as nintendo explaining the gentoo emerge process *rolls eyes*
Oh better hurry and update iptables and patch my kernel and emerge sync;emerge -uv world... oh windows, they get all the fun!
So by posting a CNET version of a story, solon.com's content is bieng "freed" in which way shape or form?

The Thermaltake shark http://www.thermaltake.com/xaserCase/shark/black/b lack.htm is one of the nicest cases I've ever seen. It is designed with water cooling in mind and it is made practically "tool-less".
Not quite a "real" 3D UI, it does have some cool effects for switching between virtual desktops. http://desk3d.sourceforge.net/
A great book on this topic is Write Great Code by NoStarch Press http://www.nostarch.com/frameset.php?startat=great code
