I think they have solved it since it happened with one of the interim test versions and was later fixed in the next test version. Atleast the problem didn't re-occur on my system.

  2. Re:Students on Competition Fosters Next Generation Of Linux Talent · · Score: -1

Well, I have been a computer science student at university level for 5 years now ... I have, like many of you, a first hand experience of an environment where students are split in a zillion directions about deciding where to focus in the long term ... most of them end up chosing MS related technologies and work their behinds off at MS VC++/ .NET technologies and so on, only becasue its a safe bet and they know (and have been told by alumni) that they WILL surely get a starting job with decent pay if they are good programmers or administrators in MS technologies. That just kills the Linux drive right away. What they need to be told is that Linux and OSS is not a dead beat and there are ways of making a living and contributing to the community. That education is missing from not only the curriculum but also from the environment. Now having cool games compatible with your average Linux distro just might work for a select 2% of the lot that make up gaming enthusiasts ... but the majority of those bleak 2%will end up playing games instead of doing anything worthwhile for the Linux area as a whole.

To take a more recent example: when the US lost a dozen-plus troops in Somalia, we left with our tail tucked between our legs. Same thing a few years earlier in Beirut, when a few hundred troops were killed. But now, after losing several thousand lives in 9/11, we're able to bear the loss of hundreds in Iraq and Afghanistan...

I know its off-topic but ... guess what ... the soldiers in Iraq are dying in vain ... it might hurt your feelings, but seems like its the truth.

instead of turning tail, we're actually debating the issue.

the issue being debated is weather the war was waged based on truth or for the freaking oil and US capatalist interests.
I agree with all your views abt space, the frontier men approach ... but that Iraq example was just way off

    Dear brother,
We are having some serious problems with our training in camps. The Windows XP systems are constatnly becoming pain the the ***. You see, the thing is that we upgraded from Microsoft Flight Simulator 2000 to Microsoft Flight Simulator 2004. After the upgrade, our local administrators applied a IE patch, and now whenever the computers start up, a blue screen appears. And nothing happens. I hope you can fathom the loss of time and training we are experiencing over this. Our to-be-suicide-pilots cannot get the required training now.
We tried uninstalling MFS 2004 version and re-installing MFS2000 version, but tha MFS 2000 fails to install citing some DirectX compatibility problems. All this is seriously affecting our future planning.
I want you, my dear brother, to find this Bill Gates guy and find out how to fix this thing. But remember, do not harm in in any way, I hear he is releasing something called XP SP 2 which is going to let hell lose all over the place.
If he fails to fix our ptoblem, kindly contact the /. guys and tell them all of this stuff, may be they will have some advice ( I hear the talk all day and night long and do nothing).
Also seek advice from the /. about migrating to Linux and if there is any reliable FLight Simulator available (hijacking scenarios and low altitude urban flight paths training missions required).
    May you rest in peace.

p.s. what is this Win32.Sasser.worm, kindly brief our local IT staff about this, it appears to be with every mail we receive or send out there. I hope this is not some CIA trick to track our emals.
p.p.s. By second hand compaq laptops and IBM computers from Peshawer, install new hard disks, prepare fake email exhanges between the top 10 most wanted on FBI list and sell those computers to some infidel reporters for a profit. WIll use the profit to get you guys some GeForce 6800 cards, so you can practice some urban warfare with Doom3
